Job summary

Omron Electronics S.p.A. in Chennai is seeking a Senior Engineer-Application E&S to lead automation projects from feasibility through handover. You will design system architectures, program PLC/HMI/SCADA, and coordinate with vendors to deliver on time and within budget.

Travel up to 40% is required. Expertise in industrial networks (Profibus/ProfiNet, Modbus, EtherCAT), IIoT, AutoCAD/e-Plan, and safety solutions will be highly valued.

Qualifications

• BE in Electrical or ECE or equivalent diploma required.
• 6–10 years in project handling, programming, installation & commissioning.
• Programming experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, servo motors and robots.
• Experience with industrial networks and protocols (RS232/RS485, Modbus, ProfiBus/ProfiNet, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT).
• Knowledge of SQL databases and VB/C#/ASP.NET; AutoCAD/e-Plan knowledge.
• Experience in machine vision and safety solutions; willingness to travel ~40%.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and plan projects, visit customers with sales to assess feasibility.
• Study and design system architecture; prepare technical proposals; provide PoC when needed.
• Identify potential vendors; prepare BOMs including third-party scope and commercial proposals.
• Program PLC/HMI/SCADA; ensure execution within schedule, cost, and quality.
• Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and customers for timely delivery.
• Prepare handover documents and provide post-project technical support.

Short Description

Job Responsibilities

• 1. Project Initiation & Planning (35%)
• 1.1. Customer visit alongwith sales team to determine proposal feasibility by checking RFQs (request for quote).
• 1.2. Study & design system architecture as per the requirement of the customer and prepare the technical proposal. Give PoC to customers if required.
• 1.3. Identify the potential Vendor for the project in the assigned region.
• 1.4. Prepare the project BOM (bill of materials), including third party scope & prepare the commercial proposal.
• 2.1 Programming of PLC, HMI, SCADA, Knowledge on Software development cycle for understing the method form vendor and Robotics.
• 2.2 Execute the project within schedule timeline and cost with expected quality.
• 2.3 Coordination with internal departments, vendors and customers to ensure timely execution of project.
• 3. Project Closure & technical Support (15%)
• 3.1 Prepare project handover documents of Electrical, Mechanical and Operation manual etc.provide technical support to customers post project handover.

Job Requirements

• B.E in Electrical/ ECE/Equivalent Diploma
• Min 6 to10 years of expereince in project handling, programming, installation & commisioning of projects
• Programming experience of Industrial products like PLC,HMI,SCADA,Servo, Robots
• Experience of industrial networks and communication like
• Device Net, RS232 and RS485, Modbus, Profi-bus, Profi-net, Ethernet/IP,EtherCAT
• Experience of SQL database, prog. language VB/C#/ASP.net
• Knowledge of Auto cad, e-Plan, electric circuit diagrams, Digital transformation and IIOT projects
• Experience in installation & commissioning of Machine Vision & Safety solution
• Travel as per business purpose 40%
