Job summary

Omron Electronics S.p.A. is seeking aSenior Automation Engineer to lead AXI/AOI/SPI programming, installation, and commissioning for industrial automation projects.

The role focuses on operational excellence, customer support during NPI and mass production, and cross-functional project leadership with Applications & Sales teams. A strong engineering background and team leadership are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 8+ years in SMT/THT with hands-on AOI/SPI/AXI programming, installation & commissioning.
• Experience leading and motivating a technical team of at least 2 engineers.
• Excellent communication and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Operational Excellence: monitor performance, uptime, and inspection efficiency; drive preventive actions.
• Customer Support: provide advanced technical support on AXI systems during NPI and mass production; train customer teams.

Short Description

Job Responsibilities

• 1. Operational Excellence: 30%
  • 1.1 Monitor machine performance, uptime, utilization, and inspection efficiency.
  • 1.2 Drive preventive actions to minimize downtime and production impact.
  • 1.3 Ensure timely closure of customer concerns and action items.
  • 1.4 Serve as the primary point of contact for customer management, production, process engineering, and quality teams.
• 2. Customer Support: 30%
  • 2.1 Provide advanced technical support on AXI systems during NPI and mass production.
  • 2.2 Provide training and guidance to customers' technical teams on the setup, operation, and maintenance of AXI systems
  • 2.3 Optimize inspection programs to improve defect detection and reduce false calls.
  • 2.4 Support root cause analysis and problem-solving related to PCB assembly defects.
• 3. Project lead & Management: 30%
  • 3.1 Lead all activities related to AXI machine implementation, qualification, and production support.
  • 3.2 Coordinate machine installation, acceptance, and commissioning for planned expansion projects.
  • 3.3 Manage project timelines and ensure milestones are achieved.
  • 3.4 Coordinate cross-functional teams including Applications & Sales.
  • 3.5 Generate comprehensive reports and insights to guide decision-making and process optimization
• 4. Team Management: 10%
  • 4.1 Lead and mentor Application engineers Allocate resources based on production priorities.
  • 4.2 Monitor engineer performance and ensure effective customer support coverage.
  • 4.3 Conduct regular technical coaching and skill development activities.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• In-depth knowledge of application development methodologies and practices
• 8+ years of experience in SMT/THT Process with hands on AOI/SPI/AXI programming, installation & commissioning
• OMRON AOI/SPI/AXI product programming knowledge would be an added advantage
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Industrial Automation organisation in a Technical profile with leading and motivating a team of minimum 2 members
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various stakeholders
• Good Analytical skills and ability to use Microsoft Tools to analyse and prepare statistical information
• Customer-centric approach
• 50% Travel as per business needs
