Job summary

Thanal in India seeks an experienced Occupational Therapist to assess residents’ needs and design rehabilitation plans. You will deliver therapy to improve fine and gross motor skills, balance, and functional abilities, while supporting activities of daily living and independence.

Responsibilities include coordinating with a rehab team, guiding caregivers on home-based exercises, and maintaining progress records.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Valid state or national licensure/registration to practice as an occupational therapist.
• Excellent empathy, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Job description

• Conduct occupational therapy assessments to identify the functional, physical, sensory, and developmental needs of residents.
  
• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on each resident’s needs and rehabilitation goals.
  
• Provide therapy to improve fine motor skills, gross motor skills, coordination, balance, and functional abilities.
  
• Support residents in developing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  
• Conduct sensory integration and stimulation activities where required.
  
• Assist residents in improving their independence and participation in daily activities.
  
• Recommend and train residents in the use of assistive devices and adaptive techniques when required.
  
• Monitor residents’ progress and maintain regular therapy records and progress reports.
  
• Coordinate with physiotherapists, psychologists, special educators, caregivers, and other rehabilitation professionals.
  
• Guide caregivers on home-based exercises, activities, and rehabilitation techniques.
  
• Participate in group activities, recreational programs, and rehabilitation initiatives within the home.
  
• Ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all residents.
  
• Maintain proper documentation and follow the rehabilitation home’s policies and professional standards.
