Job summary

Sir Hn Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai seeks an experienced Nursing Leader to oversee inpatient nursing operations across IP wards, HDUs and ICUs, ensuring safe, high-quality care and regulatory compliance. You will manage staffing, skill-mix, patient safety, and daily hospital operations, while leading audits, incident management, and multidisciplinary rounds with Consultants and Medical Services.

The role requires B.Sc.

Qualifications

  • Necessary: B.Sc. Nursing / GNM with valid State Nursing Council registration
  • Desirable: M.Sc. Nursing or PostGraduate certification in Nursing Administration / Hospital Management
  • Necessary: 812 years overall nursing experience, including 35 years in a supervisory role across IP/ICU settings
  • Desirable: Experience in multispecialty tertiary care
  • Track record of leading accreditation audits (NABH/JCI) and QI projects.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise day-to-day functioning of IP wards, HDUs and ICUs, ensuring continuity of care across shifts.
  • Coordinate bed management with Operations and Medical Services.
  • Prepare monthly/weekly rosters aligned to census and patient acuity; ensure skill-mix and backup coverage.
  • Monitor attendance, overtime, float pool deployment and agency utilization as per DOA.
  • Drive workforce productivity while maintaining nurse-patient ratios.
  • Ensure compliance to nursing care plans, assessment charts, medication records, progress notes, and consent documentation.
  • Lead nursing readiness for internal/external audits; ensure timely CAPA closures.
  • Promote a just culture and safety reporting among nursing teams.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with Consultants and Medical Services; ensure nursing followthrough on plans of care.
  • Conduct/coordinate induction, BLS/ACLS refreshers, ICU competencies, and periodic skill validations.
  • Coach ANMs/Charge Nurses; conduct appraisals and individual development plans; support preceptor programs.
  • Identify highrisk practice gaps and organize targeted drills/simulations.
  • Ensure availability of consumables/implants/linen; control wastage and pilferage; maintain par levels.
  • Coordinate with Biomedical Engineering for uptime, calibration and preventive maintenance; elevate breakdowns.
  • Enforce infection prevention practices, surveillance, audits, and environmental hygiene standards.
  • Ensure compliance with BMW rules, AERB (as applicable), fire safety, CPR training, and other statutory norms.
  • Maintain inspectionready documentation and evidence files for all IP units.
  • Maintain dashboards for falls, pressure injuries, CLABSI/VAP, medication errors, restraint use, documentation compliance, staffing metrics.
  • Present monthly nursing metrics in Quality/Safety committees; drive QI projects with measurable outcomes.
  • Use audits and incident trends to implement PDSA cycles and standard work.

Job description

1. Job Purpose

To lead and oversee safe, highquality nursing care across all inpatient units by managing staffing, clinical standards, patient safety, statutory/accreditation compliance, and daily operations in collaboration with Medical Services, Consultants, Diagnostics, Operations, and Support Services at the Andheri Unit.

2. Accountabilities
a) Inpatient Nursing Operations
  • Direct and supervise daytoday functioning of IP wards, HDUs and ICUs, ensuring continuity of care across shifts.
  • Ensure smooth admissions, transfers, discharges; coordinate bed management with Operations and Medical Services.
  • Anticipate and resolve operational bottlenecks; elevate clinical concerns promptly to DNS/CNO and Medical Services.
b) Staffing, Skill-Mix & Roster Management
  • Prepare monthly/weekly rosters aligned to census and patient acuity; ensure skillmix and backup coverage.
  • Monitor attendance, overtime, float pool deployment and agency utilization as per DOA.
  • Drive workforce productivity while maintaining nursepatient ratios.
c) Clinical Quality & Accreditation (NABH/JCI)
  • Ensure compliance to nursing care plans, assessment charts, medication records, progress notes, and consent documentation.
  • Implement and audit protocols for medication safety, patient identification, handover, falls, restraints, pressure injury prevention, central line & ventilator bundles.
  • Lead nursing readiness for internal/external audits; ensure timely CAPA closures.
d) Patient Safety & Incident Management
  • Ensure crash cart checks, code cart seal integrity, equipment readiness, and emergency drills (Code Blue/Red).
  • Review incident reports, coordinate RCAs with Quality/Medical Services, implement corrective actions, and track outcomes.
  • Promote a just culture and safety reporting among nursing teams.
e) Clinical Collaboration & Rounds
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with Consultants and Medical Services; ensure nursing followthrough on plans of care.
  • Resolve consultant/nursing interface issues (orders, investigations, bedside procedures, discharge planning).
f) Training, Competency & Performance
  • Conduct/coordinate induction, BLS/ACLS refreshers, ICU competencies, and periodic skill validations.
  • Coach ANMs/Charge Nurses; conduct appraisals and individual development plans; support preceptor programs.
  • Identify highrisk practice gaps and organize targeted drills/simulations.
g) Supplies, Equipment & Infection Control
  • Ensure availability of consumables/implants/linen; control wastage and pilferage; maintain par levels.
