Job summary

Raosentcare in Hyderabad is seeking a trained nurse to join our clinical team. The role includes patient handover, assessment, medication administration, pre- and post-surgical care, rounds, monitoring, ICU coordination, and hospital operations.

You will document accurately, ensure patient safety, follow doctor’s orders, and coordinate with anaesthesia and ward staff. Requires 0–2 years of nursing experience and a recognized nursing qualification.

Job description

1. Patient Handover & Initial Assessment:

Take handover of bedside patients from the previous shift.
Conduct initial assessment and check patient vitals regularly.
Ensure accurate documentation of patient information in files and case
sheets.

2. Medication Administration & Treatment:

Administer medications and injections as per doctor's instructions.
Insert and remove cannulas and catheters based on patient needs.
Manage oral supplements, injections, and IV fluids for patients.
Monitor for adverse drug reactions and report immediately to the
concerned doctor.

3. Pre- and Post-Surgical Care:

Verify patient details and ensure pre-operative preparation, including test
dose administration and monitoring for adverse reactions.
Ensure patient fitness for surgery in coordination with doctors.
Shift patients to the OT (Operation Theatre) as per doctor’s orders.
Receive patients’ post-surgery from OT and monitor their recovery.
Administer post-operative medications and continue IV fluids as required.
After completion of the NBM (Nothing by Mouth) period, provide water
and semi-fluids per the surgeon’s dietary instructions.
Keep post-NBM patients under observation and shift them to the ward if
stable and not vomiting, using a stretcher if needed.

4. Rounds & Documentation:

Follow consultation, junior doctor, and surgeon rounds.
Update patient files and case sheets and ensure signatures on required
documents.
Ensure discharge files are checked, completed, and sent for billing.
Coordinate with doctors for discharge summary preparation.
Explain the discharge summary and medication instructions to patients.

5. Patient Care & Monitoring:

Continuously monitor patient vitals and report any abnormalities.
Perform regular bedside checks to ensure patient comfort and safety.
Manage and connect oxygen flow meters to support patient needs.
Ensure timely NG tube feeding for ICU patients.
Conduct fall risk assessments and implement preventive measures.

6. Coordination with Other Departments:

Receive and manage patients from OPD (Outpatient Department).
Collaborate with seniors for evening admissions; in their absence, take
responsibility for concerns.
Coordinate with the anaesthesia doctor if any adverse effects arise in ICU
patients.
Handover patients to ward nurses with complete information on their
condition.

7. Emergency Response & Critical Care:

Identify critical conditions (e.g., fever, breathing issues) and escalates to the concerned doctor.
Postpone surgery if adverse effects are identified and inform the
anaesthesia department.
Keep ICU patients under continuous monitoring with connected devices.

8. General Hospital Operations & Compliance:

Maintain and review fridge checklist, ensuring medications are stored
appropriately.
Regularly check the oxygen supply and ensure functionality.
Handle the transport and shifting of patients efficiently within the
hospital.
Ensure hospital infection control practices are followed.
Arrange and send samples for investigations as prescribed by doctors.
