Job summary

Alpha Precision Metal is seeking a seasoned Production Manager to oversee daily machine shop operations and ensure timely valve body machining. You will drive CNC programming with Mastercam for various machines, validate programs, and support trials.

The role collaborates with Design, NPD, Foundry, and Quality to develop robust processes. Key responsibilities include process engineering, quality management, maintenance, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

Plan, organize, and supervise daily machine shop operations.

Ensure achievement of production targets for valve body machining.

Monitor machine utilization, productivity, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Optimize machining cycle times and reduce manufacturing costs.

CNC/VMC Programming & Mastercam

Develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for VMC, HMC, CNC Turning, and VTL machines.

Validate CNC programs through simulation before production.

Optimize tool paths to improve machining efficiency and reduce cycle time.

Support operators during new program trials and process validation.

Maintain Mastercam program database and revision control.

Process Engineering

Develop machining processes for new valve body components.

Design and validate tooling, fixtures, and work-holding methods.

Review engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining feasibility.

Coordinate with Design, NPD, Foundry, and Quality departments for new product development.

Quality Management

Ensure machined components meet dimensional and customer specifications.

Reduce rejection, rework, and machining defects.

Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Participate in customer audits and process validations.

Maintenance & Continuous Improvement

Coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance activities.

Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and Six Sigma initiatives.

Implement productivity and cost reduction projects.

Team Management

Lead CNC programmers, engineers, supervisors, setters, and machine operators.

Conduct skill development and technical training on Mastercam and machining processes.

Evaluate employee performance and identify training needs.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.

Maintain ISO quality system documentation.

Promote a safe and disciplined work environment.
