Job summary

Optimas International in Pune (Chakan) is seeking a New Product Development Engineer to drive APQP-driven NPD processes, review requirements, prepare product information, drawings, testing, PPAP and ensure timely delivery of samples and production parts.

You will collaborate with suppliers, customers and internal teams to develop parts and processes, resolve issues, and ensure quality and on-time delivery in a fast-paced environment with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• BE Mechanical with 4-5 years or Diploma Mech with 7-8 years of experience.
• Program Management, New Product Development, Vendor Audit skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with cross-functional collaboration.
• Quality assurance principles and experience implementing quality control processes.
• Ability to lead and facilitate actions with cross functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects for C Class components with timelines, budget, and quality standards; coordinate across departments.
• Provide technical clarification of designs with suppliers and manufacturing.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary engineering development team across design, controls, and testing.
• Collaborate with Sales & Sourcing to qualify components during prototype development and resolve issues.

New Product Development Engineer

Chakan, Pune

Position overview:

As part of the New Product Development and APQP process, they will review requirements, prepare product information, Drawing reviews, Testing requirements, Technical study, PPAP, Sample timelines, Packaging & Preservations, IS/ISO/ASTM/ASME/DIN/JIS standards and ensures acknowledgement and physical delivery of both samples and PPAP lots with successful FTR.

The NPD Engineer may work through Technical Study, part & process development with the supplier, customer, and internal Optimas support staff to resolve issues and ensure the right product is developed & delivered on time and with desire quality.

Main responsibilities:

The NPD Engineer will be performing the following responsibilities and duties:

• Projects for C Class components, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget, and quality standards. Coordinate activities across multiple departments to drive projects to completion, along with provide input on fastener selection, materials, and processes to optimize product performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Provide technical clarification of designs with suppliers and manufacturing.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary engineering development team that includes application engineering, controls engineering, mechanical design, control hardware design, and test / validation.
• Work with Sales & Sourcing Team and qualify components and assemblies during prototype development and resolve issues as needed to maintain product and project quality, cost and deliverables.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop production processes and tooling for new fastener products. Ensure that manufacturing processes are optimized for efficiency, quality, and scalability.
• Establish quality control processes and inspection criteria for fastener products. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address potential quality issues during the NPI process.
• Maintain accurate records of NPD activities, including design specifications, testing results, and regulatory documentation. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction throughout the NPI process. Implement best practices and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement in fastener product development and manufacturing.
• Review customer documents and specifications as provided by sales, project team and the NBS team.
• Follow up /expedite to ensure on time delivery of samples and production parts.
• Work through issues and gaps associated with the implementation.
• Help provide run in/run out information for resource orders.
• Prepare setup form for the resource location.
• Follow up /expedite to ensure on time delivery of samples.
• Hand Part over to Supply Chain for production management and ordering.
