Job summary

Capgemini India, Coimbatore, seeks an experienced design engineer with NPD exposure to develop electromechanical consumer electronics and home appliances. You will lead product design, feasibility analysis, and documentation from concept to prototyping, while collaborating with HW, CAE and supplier teams.

Required: 7–10 years in CPRS NPD, strong communication, DFMEA, regulatory knowledge (IEC/UL/ROHS/REACH), and PLM tools (Windchill/Teamcenter).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 7–10 years in NPD within CPRS domain.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with HW, CAE, and suppliers.
• Proven ability to create DFMEA, feasibility analyses, and product specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design engineer with NPD experience for electromechanical consumer electronics, home appliances, healthcare or handheld devices.
• Collaborate with HW, CAE, and suppliers across functions.
• Reverse engineering, Teardown, bench marking and VAVE experience is added advantage.
• Experience in Product DFMEA and Risk management creation for Electromechanical wellness or home appliance products
• Experience in PRD creation (requirement management), feasibility analysis, and Product specification finalization.
• Deep knowledge in regulatory compliance standards - IEC standards, UL, ROHS, REACH etc
• Exposure to product architecture design and system engineering.
• Proven experience in concept generation and Proof of concept prototype development.
• Experience in Plastic product design, sheet metal design, die casting, Machining, Prototype development, soft tooling, Secondary operation for component joining, Manufacturing process knowledge required / experience preferred
• Electromechanical product packaging- enclosure design with IP protection and cable routing
• Experience in PCB - Keep in-Keep out drawing creation and HW component mounting design (for Audio, Capacitor, Wi-Fi /Blue tooth, Battery management) etc
• Engineering Mechanism design and optimization. Prefer to have analytical calculation knowledge
• Product design review experience in DFx aspects, Tolerance stack up verification
• Ability to provide CAE / Moldflow inputs, review result report and utilize that for design Optimization
• Experience in Product validation testing etc Test matrix, Test plan creation, Test fixture /rig design and Test execution
• Product drawing creation with Datum / GD&T application
• Experience in CAD software need to have expertise in Class A surface modelling or sheet metal skills in any of the two software UG NX (mandatory), Creo (optional)
• Experience in Topology optimization using one of the above software is added advantage
• Experience in PLM / PDM tools – Windchill or Team centre experience is preferred
• Supplier management experience needed – Identification, for FAI review and PPAP approval support
• Automation and industrialization tool experience will be added advantage
• Teamwork and Leadership qualities with high proactiveness and self-motivated personality
• Proficient in English verbal and written communication skills (preferably managing Europe based clients)
