Job summary

Century Extrusions in India is seeking a quality professional to lead APQP/PPAP activities and manage PPAP documentation for aluminum extrusion projects. The role focuses on FMEA, SPC, MSA, RCA, and CQMS compliance across manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma in Mechanical or Metrology with 3-5 years of relevant experience and is willing to relocate to Kharagpur, West Bengal. Emphasis on continuous improvement and supplier collaboration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP): define steps from design to launch to satisfy customer requirements.
• Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation to verify process capability.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive control plans for manufacturing processes.
• Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for designs and processes; implement mitigation actions.
• Use SPC and MSA to monitor processes and ensure data-driven decisions.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and drive corrective/preventive actions.
• Oversee aluminum extrusion processes and collaboration with suppliers.
• Ensure Quality Management System compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and AS9100.
• Promote Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma for continuous improvement.
• Ensure safety (OSHA) and environmental standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Relocate to Kharagpur, W.B.; Diploma in Mechanical or Metrology; 3-5 years experience.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP): Drive the structured process for defining and establishing the steps necessary to ensure a new product or process satisfies the customer. This includes planning, product design and development, process design and development, validation, and launch assessment phases.
• Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP): Coordinate and review all PPAP documentation (which is the evidence collected through APQP) to ensure that the manufacturing process has the potential to consistently produce products meeting all customer engineering specifications and requirements.
• Develop and Maintain Control Plans: Create comprehensive control plans that outline the controls required for various processes at different stages of manufacturing to ensure product acceptance and process control.

Risk Management & Problem Solving (FMEA, SPC, MSA)

• Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA): Proactively identify potential failure modes in product designs (DFMEA) and manufacturing processes (PFMEA), assess associated risks, and implement action plans to mitigate high-priority risks early in the development cycle.
• Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC): Use statistical methods (such as control charts and capability studies) to monitor and control manufacturing processes, identify variations, and ensure process stability and capability for key characteristics.
• Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA): Evaluate the quality, accuracy, and precision of all measurement systems and inspection tools used during production to ensure reliable data collection for quality decisions.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate internal and external quality issues, production problems, and customer complaints using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams), and drive the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Process & Industry-Specific Expertise

• Oversee Aluminum Extrusion Processes: Apply specific knowledge of the aluminum extrusion process to optimize production workflow, refine designs for manufacturability, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure efficient and high-quality output.
• Collaborate with Suppliers: Work closely with suppliers to develop extrusion profiles, assess their technical capabilities, manage supplier quality, and ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.

Quality Systems & Compliance

• Ensure Compliance with QMS Standards: Implement, maintain, and audit the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure full adherence to international standards like ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (especially crucial given the use of core tools), and AS9100.
• Manage Documentation and Audits: Maintain accurate and comprehensive quality documentation (SOPs, test results, specifications, audit reports) and participate in internal and external audits to maintain certification status.
• Promote Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to enhance product reliability, minimize waste, and boost customer satisfaction.
• Ensure Safety and Environmental Compliance: Maintain awareness of and ensure compliance with safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) and environmental management standards like ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
