Job summary

Training Basket in India is seeking a Network Support trainee to assist in installation and configuration of LAN/WAN networks, IP addresses, DHCP and DNS, and to help with switches, routers and VoIP systems.

You will learn to troubleshoot connectivity, packet loss, and latency, and gain exposure to PBX systems like Asterisk and similar. The role emphasizes remote and onsite support as you work with senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing, subnetting, and LAN/WAN concepts.
• Familiar with VLAN, DHCP, DNS, NAT and PoE basics.
• CCNA level knowledge or certification is a plus; exposure to PBX/VoIP is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation and configuration of LAN/WAN networks and IP addressing.
• Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues and document solutions.
• Support IP-PBX/VoIP installations and SIP extensions at customer sites.
• Learn to use network troubleshooting tools like ping, traceroute, and basic switch commands.
• Assist senior engineers with remote support and basic Linux command checks.
• Prepare basic installation/service reports and logs for clients.

Network Support

• Assist in installation and configuration of LAN/WAN networks.
• Configure basic IP addresses, sub netting, DHCP and DNS.
• Basic understanding of VLAN, trunk/access ports and PoE.
• Assist with configuration of network switches and routers.
• Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues using:
  • Ping
  • Traceroute
  • IP configuration
  • Basic switch commands.
• Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity, packet loss and latency issues.

VoIP / IP-PBX Support

• Assist with installation and configuration of IP-PBX systems.
• Configure SIP extensions and IP phones.
• Basic understanding of SIP registration and SIP calling.
• Troubleshoot:
  • IP phone registration issues
  • Incoming/outgoing call problems
  • No audio/one-way audio
  • SIP trunk connectivity
  • IP phone network connectivity.
• Learn and work with Asterisk, Zycoo, Coovox, Matrix, Dasscom or similar PBX systems.
• Assist senior engineers with customer troubleshooting and remote support.

IP Phones & VoIP Devices

• Installation and configuration of IP phones from vendors such as:
  • Fanvil
  • Grandstream
  • Yea link
  • Matrix
  • Dasscom
• Basic knowledge of SIP account configuration.
• Perform phone firmware updates and basic troubleshooting.
• Assist with IP-PBX and IP-phone deployment at customer sites.

Linux & Server Support

• Basic knowledge of Linux is preferred.
• Learn basic Linux commands and troubleshooting.
• Assist with checking:
  • Services
  • Network connectivity
  • Disk space
  • System logs.
• Basic exposure to Docker is an advantage.

Troubleshooting & Customer Support

• Provide remote and onsite technical support.
• Collect logs and screenshots from customer systems.
• Assist senior engineers in analyzing Wire shark/PCAP captures.
• Follow troubleshooting procedures and document solutions.
• Prepare basic installation and service reports.
• Escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
