Job summary

Cloudxtreme Bengaluru is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to monitor enterprise network infrastructure, perform proactive triage, and support availability, performance, and incident response across routing, switching, and security devices.

You will follow SOPs, document fixes for the knowledge base, coordinate with L2/L3 teams and vendors, and maintain logs and runbooks, while ensuring security policies are followed during troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • 2–6 years of experience in Network Operations or equivalent NOC environment.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent network devices.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and ticketing tools.
  • Basic troubleshooting of VPNs, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Good communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor network devices, links, and critical services using approved monitoring tools.
  • Respond promptly to alerts, alarms, and incidents, ensuring timely triage and resolution as per defined SLAs.
  • Identify recurring issues and document resolution steps for knowledge base enhancement.
  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to L2/L3 teams in accordance with SOPs and escalation matrix.
  • Coordinate with service providers, vendors, and internal IT/network teams for incident follow-up, RFO, and service restoration.
  • Perform routine health checks on routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless controllers following SOPs.
  • Record performance metrics and anomalies in logs and report deviations to network leads.
  • Maintain incident, request, and change records in ITSM tools; update runbooks, SOPs, and KB articles.

Network Operations Role Summary:

The Network Operations Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day monitoring, triage, and support of enterprise network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.


The role involves proactive monitoring, incident response, coordination with functional teams, and execution of standard operational procedures (SOPs).


Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring & Incident Response:
  • Continuously monitor network devices, links, and critical services using approved monitoring tools.
  • Respond promptly to alerts, alarms, and incidents, ensuring timely triage and resolution as per defined SLAs.
  • Identify recurring issues and document resolution steps for knowledge base enhancement.
Escalation & Coordination:
  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to L2/L3 teams in accordance with defined SOPs and escalation matrix.
  • Coordinate with service providers, vendors, and internal IT/network teams for incident follow-up, RFO (Root Cause Analysis), and service restoration.
Operational Health Checks:
  • Perform routine and scheduled health checks on routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless controllers following defined SOP checklists.
  • Record performance metrics and anomalies in daily logs and report deviations to network leads.
Documentation & Compliance:
  • Maintain incident, request, and change records in ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy).
  • Update runbooks, SOPs, and KB articles to reflect current operational practices.
  • Adhere to defined security and compliance policies during troubleshooting and configuration tasks.

Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.

2–6 years of experience in Network Operations or equivalent NOC environment.

Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).

Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent network devices.

Familiarity with monitoring and ticketing tools.

Basic troubleshooting of VPNs, firewalls, and wireless access points.

Good communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
