Job Summary
The Network Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing the organization’s network infrastructure. This role requires strong hands‑on expertise in routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and ensure high availability of IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Maintenance
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
- Monitor network performance and ensure uptime, reliability, and scalability
- Manage LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN connectivity across multiple sites
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain network security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, ACLs)
- Conduct regular security assessments and patch updates
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards
Infrastructure Management
- Administer IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, and VLAN configurations
- Manage bandwidth utilization and optimize network traffic
- Oversee backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies
Troubleshooting & Support
- Diagnose and resolve network issues (Layer 2/3 troubleshooting)
- Provide Tier-2/3 support for escalated network problems
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers for issue resolution
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain updated network diagrams, asset inventory, and configuration records.
- Prepare performance reports and recommend improvements.
Core Technical Skills
- Networking Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS.
- Hardware Expertise: Cisco, Juniper, HP, Dell, Fortinet, Palo Alto.
- Security Tools: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, NAC solutions.
- Monitoring Tools: SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, Wireshark.
- Cloud Networking: AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, hybrid cloud connectivity.
- Virtualization & Infrastructure: VMware, Hyper-V, SD-WAN solutions.
- Operating System: Moderate hands on experience on Linux and Windows Operating systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in network administration.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) / Professional (CCNP).
- Fortinet NSE / Palo Alto PCNSA.
