Qualifications

• 12–18+ years of progressive experience in Credit, Underwriting, and Credit Risk within NBFCs, HFCs, banks, or financial institutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end credit appraisal, underwriting, and risk management operations across all branches.
• Oversee approval for LAP, Mortgage, and secured lending proposals; evaluate LTV, FOIR, DSCR, and collateral.
• Formulate and review credit policies, SOPs, deviation frameworks, and monitor portfolio health.
• Track indicators like TAT, sanction-to-disbursement, rejection rates; drive automation and digital underwriting.
• Mentor and manage the credit team; align KRAs and training pipelines.
• Ensure RBI compliance, internal controls, and support audits.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Head – Credit to lead our overall Credit function. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee credit underwriting, policy creation, risk assessment, sanctioning, portfolio quality, and credit controls, while mentoring a high-performing team to support sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Credit Leadership: Lead end-to-end credit appraisal, underwriting, and risk management operations across all branches.
• Underwriting & Sanctioning: Oversee approval for LAP, Mortgage, and secured lending proposals. Evaluate LTV, FOIR, DSCR, bureau profiles, property collateral, and high-value deviation cases.
• Policy & Risk Management: Formulate and review Credit Policies, SOPs, and deviation frameworks. Monitor portfolio health, early warning indicators, and delinquency trends to mitigate risk.
• Process & Portfolio Efficiency: Track key credit indicators (TAT, sanction-to-disbursement ratios, rejection rates) and drive process automation and digital underwriting.
• Stakeholder & Team Alignment: Partner with Sales, Operations, Risk, Legal, and Collections teams. Mentor and manage the credit team, defining KRAs and training pipelines.
• Governance & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with RBI regulations, internal controls, and support internal/external audit closures.

Key Requirements

• 12–18+ years of progressive experience in Credit, Underwriting, and Credit Risk within an NBFC, HFC, Bank, or Financial Institution.
• Deep expertise in LAP, Mortgages, Home Loans, and property-backed secured lending.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale credit operations, policy implementation, and multi-location credit teams.
