Job summary

Jobgether is seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator in India to ensure reliable, scalable databases and automated operations. You will collaborate with Operations and Development teams to optimize performance, implement replication and clustering, and modernize databases in cloud environments.

The role emphasizes hands-on administration, scripting, monitoring, and documentation to support global data centers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years hands-on MySQL administration.
  • Experience with MySQL performance tuning and replication.
  • Proficiency with Linux in database environments.
  • Scripting ability in Python or Shell/Bash.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a MySQL Database Administrator based in India.

This role is responsible for the reliability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical MySQL database environments. You will work closely with Operations and Development teams to design, administer, monitor, and continuously improve production databases. The position combines hands‑on database administration with automation, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and cloud modernization. You will support highly available environments across global data centers while helping strengthen operational efficiency and resilience. The role offers exposure to cloud database technologies, scripting, replication, clustering, and modern automation practices. It is well suited to an experienced database professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges in a collaborative, globally distributed environment.


Accountabilities
  • Design, build, configure, and administer highly available, reliable, and high‑performing MySQL databases.
  • Support production database environments operating across global data centers and maintain high levels of system availability.
  • Configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize MySQL replication and clustering, including master‑master replication.
  • Monitor database performance indicators such as I/O, CPU utilization, queries, and other relevant metrics.
  • Perform database performance tuning, backup and recovery activities, and proactive monitoring to prevent operational issues.
  • Investigate and resolve complex database problems, ensuring timely restoration and continued system availability.
  • Develop SQL queries and database reports to support internal stakeholders, reporting, and analytics needs.
  • Automate recurring database administration and operational tasks using Python, Shell, or Bash scripting.
  • Contribute to database modernization initiatives, including migration and optimization within cloud‑based environments.
  • Document database architectures, operational processes, procedures, and technical guidelines.
  • Follow established change management and production deployment processes to maintain operational stability.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of overall professional experience, including at least 3 years of hands‑on MySQL database administration.
  • Strong experience implementing, administering, and optimizing MySQL databases, including performance tuning and replication.
  • Experience with GCP cloud database technologies is preferred; AWS cloud database experience is also relevant.
  • Proficiency with MySQL administration tools and database performance monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of database performance metrics, including I/O, CPU utilization, queries, and related indicators.
  • Experience writing SQL queries for reporting, analytics, and operational requirements.
  • Solid Linux administration skills in database environments.
  • Scripting experience with Python, preferably, or Shell/Bash.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a structured approach to diagnosing complex database issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Development, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with SQL Server administration is a plus.
  • Exposure to data warehouse technologies such as Google BigQuery is a plus.
  • Familiarity with automation tools for database provisioning and monitoring is an advantage.
