Job summary

Ascension is seeking an MRI technologist for St. Vincent Carmel Hospital in Carmel, IN. This PRN position requires precise imaging, patient comfort, and strict safety adherence.

You will screen and schedule patients, educate them on procedures, manage data and image transfers to PACS, and help maintain a clean, well-organized MRI department with rapid response to equipment issues.

Qualifications

• Licensure / Certification / Registration required.
• BLS within 1 month of hire date.
• Credentialed MRI-related certifications within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate MRI scanners and position patients to produce high-quality cross-sectional images.
• Manage patient pre-screening, scheduling and education for a smooth experience.
• Process patient data, transfer images to PACS and ensure accuracy of submissions.
• Adhere to radiation safety procedures and maintain a safe department environment.
• Monitor equipment function and support in keeping the department clean and orderly.

Education

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required

BLS Provider (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)

Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

ARRT MR credentialed (MRI) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

ARRT Radiography credentialed from the ARRT

ARDMS Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Precise Imaging: Operate scanners to produce high-quality cross-sectional images by accurately positioning patients and selecting optimal technical parameters.
• Patient Support: Manage patient pre-screening, scheduling, and clear education to ensure a smooth, informed experience.
• Data & Image Integrity: Process patient data, manage image transfer, and ensure prompt, accurate submission of all high-quality images and documents to PACS.
• Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all radiation safety procedures and guidelines, maintaining a safe environment for all.
• Operational Readiness: Monitor equipment function, report malfunctions, and assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education
