Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Surgical Technician in Carmel, IN for Day Full-time shifts (10:30am-7pm, Mon-Fri) in the Surgery department. You will facilitate safe surgical procedures, prepare the operating suite, hand instruments to the surgeon, and assist with patient positioning and draping.

Requirements include a BLS provider within 30 days and a Surgical Tech credential (NCCT or NBSTSA) before hire. Education options include high school equivalency with experience or advanced degrees.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from NCCT or NBSTSA obtained prior to hire date.
• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
