Job summary

TATA AutoComp Hendrickson Suspensions Pvt. Ltd. (THSL) in India is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to lead end-to-end suspension system development for bus platforms. The role requires strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA V5, Creo) and CAE tools, and proven project leadership.

You will manage design validation, collaborate with suppliers and customers, mentor a team of engineers, and drive cost optimization and value engineering across programs.

Qualifications

• 10-15 years of experience in automotive suspension/chassis design for buses or commercial vehicles.
• Strong expertise in vehicle dynamics, suspension kinematics, and load analysis.
• Hands-on experience with CAD tools: SolidWorks, CATIA V5, Creo.
• Experience with CAE tools: ANSYS, HyperMesh, Adams, Abaqus.
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and development of suspension systems for bus platforms.
• Define suspension architecture aligned with ride, handling, stability, and NVH targets.
• Drive advanced simulations (FEA, MBD) and engineering calculations.
• Ensure milestones, costs, and quality targets are met on projects.
• Manage DFMEA and design validation plans (DVP&R).
• Lead issue resolution through prototype, testing, and production.
• Mentor a team of design engineers and analysts.
• Drive capability development, tools, and best practices.
• Collaborate with suppliers for design, development, and validation.
• Drive cost optimization, localization, and value engineering.
• Work with Customer team to complete projects successfully.
• Benchmark competitors and contribute to suspension technology roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead end-to-end design and development of suspension systems (air suspension, leaf spring, dampers, anti-roll bars, linkages) for Bus platforms
• Define suspension architecture aligned with vehicle performance targets (ride, handling, stability, NVH)
• Drive advanced simulations (FEA, MBD) and engineering calculations

Project & Program Management

• Ensure adherence to project milestones, cost targets, and quality standards
• Manage risk assessment, DFMEA, and design validation plans (DVP&R)
• Lead issue resolution during prototype, testing, and production stages
• Lead and mentor a team of design engineers and analysts
• Drive capability development within the team (tools, processes, best practices)
• Collaborate with suppliers for design, development, and validation of components
• Drive cost optimization, localization, and value engineering initiatives
• Work closely with Customer team for effective completion of projects

Innovation & Strategy

• Benchmark competitors and drive continuous product improvement
• Contribute to long-term suspension technology roadmap for bus platforms

Qualification

• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical Engineering

Experience

• 10-15 years of experience in automotive suspension/ chassis system design, preferably in buses or commercial vehicles
