Job summary

Norquest Brands Pvt. Ltd. in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is seeking a Merchandiser - Exports to own end-to-end export accounts from inquiry through sampling, production and shipment.

You will be the single point of accountability for orders and ensure on-time delivery to major markets. The role requires 4–6 years in export merchandising, strong written English, and solid Excel (pivot tables, lookups). A Bachelor's degree in Textile Management or Merchandising is preferred, with on-site coordination

Qualifications

• 4-6 years in export merchandising - bags, home textiles, garments or soft goods.
• Complete knowledge of the export order cycle: costing, sampling, PO management, production follow-up, documentation.
• Strong written English; you'll email brand managers in London and New York with clear, professional communication.
• Bachelor's degree in Textile Management, Merchandising, Business Administration, or similar.

The role

You will own a portfolio of export accounts end to end - from the first enquiry through sampling, production and shipment. You are the single point of accountability for those orders. When a customer wants to know where their 40,000 tote bags are, you already know, and you've already flagged the problem before they asked.

The role demands an ability to think - assess customer requirements, ask required questions, create a selling proposal and guide customers till the order. It suits someone who is organised by instinct, willing to apply mind, read up and learn what you don’t know. Also requires extensive internal coordination and follow up.

What you'll do

Own the customer relationship

• Handle enquiries, quotations, order confirmations and shipment updates for your assigned accounts.
• Translate customer specs - fabric, GSM, print, trims, certification, packaging - into instructions the production team can act on without ambiguity.
• Understand customer documentation, processes and compliance requirements

Drive orders to delivery

• Build and maintain a Time & Action calendar for every order, and hold internal teams to it.
• Track sample development, approvals and customer feedback until sign-off.
• Work with Production, Planning, Quality, Purchase and Dispatch to keep orders on schedule - and escal…
• Follow up with suppliers on fabric, trims, accessories and packaging so material shortages never become the reason for a delay.

Keep the paperwork clean

• Coordinate export documentation with the logistics team.
• Maintain accurate order histories, costing references and customer correspondence.
• Prepare weekly order status and shipment schedule reports.

How you'll be measured

• Customer response time and quality of communication.
• Conversion of leads into orders
• Quality of thinking, ownership of account - Minimise involvement of your seniors
• Sample-to-approval turnaround - how quickly you close the development loop.
• Accuracy - NO costing errors, spec misses and rework attributable to briefing gaps.

What we're looking for

Essential

• 4-6 years in export merchandising - bags, home textiles, garments or soft goods.
• Complete knowledge of the export order cycle: costing, sampling, PO management, production follow-up, documentation.
• Strong written English. You'll be emailing brand managers in London and New York, and your emails need to read as clearly as theirs.
• Solid Excel - pivot tables, lookups, cost sheets. Not just data entry.
• The ability to run 15-20 live orders at once without losing track of any of them.
• Bachelor's degree in Textile Management, Merchandising, Business Administration, or similar.

Bonus

• Exposure to European or US buyers and their processes and compliance expectations.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Familiarity with sustainability certifications (GOTS, GRS, OEKO-TEX) and what they require in practice.
