Role Overview

The Medical Secretary is responsible for providing efficient administrative and clerical support to doctors, nurses, and clinical staff. The role plays an important part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the medical office by managing patient communication, appointment scheduling, documentation, and medical correspondence with accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Coordination
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
  • Register new patients and accurately update patient information in the system.
  • Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Respond to patient queries promptly and direct clinical matters to the appropriate healthcare professional when required.
Administrative & Clerical Support
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to doctors, nurses, and clinical staff.
  • Prepare, type, and format medical letters, reports, and other correspondence accurately.
  • Maintain and organize patient records and documentation.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential patient information responsibly and in accordance with relevant confidentiality requirements.
  • Ensure administrative records and information are maintained accurately and up to date.
  • Support general office administration and other tasks as required.
Skills & Qualifications
