Job summary

LEAMS Education Services (Gamma Holdings Ltd.) seeks a Mechanical Engineer (Fire Fighting) to design, plan and execute fire protection installations at project sites. You will prepare shop drawings, layouts and specifications while supervising installation activities and ensuring compliance with project requirements.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, with coordination across Project Managers, consultants, contractors and other MEP teams, plus adherence to NBC and NFPA

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech/B.E. or Diploma) required.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and execute fire fighting and fire protection system installations at project sites.
• Prepare and review shop drawings, equipment layouts, piping layouts, and technical specifications.
• Supervise site installation activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings and project specifications.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, consultants, contractors, and other MEP teams.
• Monitor site progress and ensure timely completion of project activities.
• Conduct inspections, pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning of fire fighting systems.
• Prepare material requisitions, BOQs, quantity take-offs, and technical submittals.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for material procurement, technical clarifications, and equipment installation.

Job Description – Mechanical Engineer (Fire Fighting)

Key Responsibilities

1. Design, plan, and execute fire fighting and fire protection system installations at project sites.
2. Prepare and review shop drawings, equipment layouts, piping layouts, and technical specifications.
3. Handle the installation of fire fighting systems, including:
   • Fire hydrant systems
   • Automatic sprinkler systems
   • Fire pumps and pump rooms
   • Wet riser and downcomer systems
   • Fire extinguishers and hose reel systems
   • Fire suppression systems, where applicable
4. Supervise site installation activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings and project specifications.
5. Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, consultants, contractors, and other MEP teams.
6. Monitor site progress and ensure timely completion of project activities.
7. Conduct inspections, pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning of fire fighting systems.
8. Ensure compliance with applicable fire safety standards, NBC requirements, and relevant NFPA standards.
9. Prepare material requisitions, BOQs, quantity take-offs, and technical submittals.
10. Monitor material consumption, inventory, and equipment requirements at project sites.
11. Identify and resolve technical issues related to piping, pumps, valves, and fire protection equipment.
12. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for material procurement, technical clarifications, and equipment installation.
13. Prepare daily progress reports, inspection reports, testing records, and project documentation.
14. Ensure quality control and adherence to approved method statements and inspection and test plans.
15. Coordinate with consultants and fire authorities for inspections, approvals, and commissioning, as applicable.
16. Ensure compliance with site safety procedures and safe working practices.
17. Support the preparation of as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and handover documents.
