As a Mechanical Software Development Professional, you are a key contributor to the development and maintenance of state‑of‑the‑art software applications that support product selection and automation within Siemens Energy. Your day involves collaborating with a global team of multidisciplinary experts, engaging in Agile Scrum development practices, and leveraging engineering and software development knowledge to deliver high‑quality solutions. You work closely with internal clients to understand requirements, transform them into robust software artifacts, and provide guidance and support to ensure project success. By fostering best practices and continuous improvement, you help drive innovation and operational excellence in engineering automation software development. The position reports to the Head of Core Compressor Tools and is based in Pune.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards and methodologies (SCRUM, Extreme Programming).
- Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery and coach others in best practices.
- Lead and participate in peer‑reviews of solution designs and related code.
- Migrate legacy applications to the latest technologies and develop integrations between applications.
- Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing and promoting good practices.
- Collaborate with software developers, business analysts, and architects to plan, design, test, and maintain business applications.
- Develop high‑level architecture, generate UML documents (use‑case, class, sequence diagrams) as required.
- Leverage core engineering principles to realize engineering and design automation software solutions.
- Normalize and provide relational data to support engineering knowledge capture and represent complex mathematical models programmatically.
- Provide user support for deployed applications in the production environment.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with at least 10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, similar role in engineering for Turbo Machinery preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in automated tool development, Java preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in SQL Server database design and development.
- 2+ years of experience working with GIT.
- Experience with Service Oriented Application (SOA) development.
- Proven communication, presentation, and mentoring skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required (up to 5%).
