Job summary

PACCAR India is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop exhaust systems, sheet metal components, and casting parts for trucks in Pune. You will create CAD models and detailed drawings, support prototypes, and ensure performance, durability, and manufacturability across subsystems.

You will work with global teams, apply GD&T and BOM accuracy, and contribute to engineering standards compliance while advancing your skills in Creo and Windchill.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering.
• 1–3 years in the automotive/truck domain preferred.
• Proficient in Creo Parametric and Windchill.
• Strong GD&T and drawing standards knowledge.

PACCAR India is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join its dynamic Pune team, specializing in the design and development of various truck components, including conceptual sheet metal brackets, casting components, DEF routing, and exhaust systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the design and development of exhaust systems.
• Develop robust sheet metal, exhaust piping, and casting designs with a strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, including GD&T, BOMs, and adherence to engineering standards.
• Perform vehicle packaging, system integration, and interface management across subsystems.
• Participate in concept and design reviews with lead and division engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, both locally and globally, to ensure design alignment and manufacturability.
• The primary function for this position includes:
  • Execute CAD activities, including sheet metal, casting, piping, routing, advanced modeling, and assembly design.
  • Interpret design requirements, perform clearance checks, and ensure compliance with drawing standards, GD&T, and BOM accuracy.
  • Work with exhaust systems, DEF systems, and frame mounting components

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering

Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED:

• 1-3 years of hands-on experience in the automotive industry, with truck domain experience considered an advantage.
• Proficient in Creo Parametric and Windchill.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal, exhaust piping design, casting, and manufacturing processes.
• In-depth knowledge of exhaust and DEF systems.
• Ability to effectively design and manage large assemblies using both top-down and bottom-up approaches.
• Excellent understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and engineering drawing standards.
• Experience in tool clearance, reliability, and ergonomic evaluations.
• Proven ability to collaborate with both local and global engineering teams.
