About the Role
Sravathi Manufacturing Solutions is building and scaling its manufacturing operations with a focus on safe, efficient, compliant and commercially sustainable manufacturing.
Purpose of the Role
The Mechanical Engineer ensures that process equipment, piping and mechanical utilities are available, safe, GMP-compliant and cost-effective to maintain, and supports projects, modifications and reliability improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Execution Construction Phase
- Review mechanical design documents, including P&IDs, equipment data sheets, general-arrangement drawings, piping isometrics and material specifications; support MOC for design changes.
- Support vendor technical evaluation; inspect fabrication of reactors, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers and other equipment at vendor works, including material test certificates, welding procedures, NDT and hydro-test records.
- Supervise receipt, storage and preservation of equipment and piping materials at site; verify materials of construction against specification.
- Supervise erection and installation of equipment, structural supports, piping, valves and utilities equipment; verify alignment, levelling and correct installation as per approved drawings.
- Carry out and witness hydro / pneumatic testing, leak testing, flushing, cleaning and passivation of equipment and piping as per approved procedures; maintain test records.
- Support boiler, pressure-vessel and piping approvals and inspections with statutory authorities.
- Monitor contractor progress, manpower and quality of welding, fabrication and erection; raise and close punch-list items; enforce site safety and permit-to-work compliance.
- Ensure receipt of as-built drawings, vendor manuals, material and test certificates and recommended spares lists at handover; set up equipment records and PM schedules.
- Support mechanical completion and commissioning of process equipment and utilities.
2. Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability
- Execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of reactors (SS / GLR), receivers, centrifuges, filters / ANFD, dryers, agitators, pumps, vacuum systems, heat exchangers and material-handling equipment.
- Prepare and follow equipment-wise PM schedules; maintain equipment history and logbooks in the maintenance system.
- Carry out condition monitoring (vibration, alignment, thickness measurement, lubrication analysis) and act on findings.
- Analyse breakdowns, carry out root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage planned shutdowns and campaign-changeover maintenance with minimum downtime.
3. Utilities & Mechanical Services
- Operate and maintain mechanical utilities, including boiler / thermic-fluid heater, chillers and brine systems, cooling towers, air compressors and dryers, nitrogen and vacuum systems.
- Support HVAC equipment maintenance and ensure environmental parameters required for production areas.
- Monitor utility performance and efficiency, and implement improvement measures.
4. Mechanical Integrity & Statutory Compliance
- Maintain inspection and testing programmes for pressure vessels, piping, relief valves, boilers and lifting equipment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including Indian Boiler Regulations, pressure-vessel and gas-cylinder rules, and Factories Act / AP Factories Rules.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and certifications; maintain statutory records and test certificates.
- Ensure gaskets, seals, materials of construction and spares meet process compatibility requirements.
5. GMP, Documentation & Qualification
- Ensure maintenance activities are carried out without contamination or cross-contamination risk (line clearance, cleaning after maintenance, tool control).
- Support DQ / IQ / OQ of equipment, including review of vendor documentation, drawings and material certificates.
- Maintain P&IDs, equipment drawings, equipment logbooks and records in line with data-integrity (ALCOA+) principles.
- Support change controls, deviations and CAPA related to mechanical equipment; support audits.
6. Modifications & Expansion Projects
- Execute equipment modifications and debottlenecking jobs following MOC.
- Support capacity-expansion projects with the Projects team.
7. Spares, Contractors & Cost Control
- Define and maintain critical spares for mechanical equipment; coordinate procurement with Stores / Procurement.
- Supervise mechanical contractors, fitters and welders; ensure quality of work and safe-work compliance.
- Control maintenance cost and support AMC / OEM service coordination.
8. EHS & Team Interface
- Ensure permit-to-work, LOTO, hot-work, confined-space, work-at-height and lifting-safety compliance in all mechanical jobs.
- Report incidents and near misses and close actions on time.
- Train and guide technicians; coordinate with Production, Electrical, Instrumentation, EHS and Quality teams.
