1. Plant & Equipment Maintenance
- Lead day-to-day preventive, predictive, breakdown and corrective maintenance activities.
- Ensure reliable operation of critical process equipment including:
- Reactors
- ANFD (Agitated Nutsche Filter Dryer)
- Filter Press
- Centrifuges and other process equipment
- Pumps, agitators, gearboxes and mechanical seals
- Vacuum systems
- Compressed air and other plant utilities
- Develop and monitor equipment-wise Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules.
- Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and CAPA.
- Maintain equipment history, breakdown records and maintenance KPIs.
- Ensure minimum equipment downtime and optimum equipment availability.
2. HVAC & Utility Systems
- Manage operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, including AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, ventilation and associated equipment.
- Ensure HVAC systems operate within specified temperature, humidity, pressure differential and cleanliness requirements.
- Coordinate HVAC qualification, preventive maintenance and periodic performance monitoring.
- Manage maintenance of plant utilities such as:
- Chillers
- Cooling towers
- Air compressors
- Vacuum systems
- Boilers/thermic fluid systems, where applicable
- Water and utility distribution systems
3. GMP & Compliance
- Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities comply with GMP, SOPs and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain engineering documentation, including:
- Equipment maintenance records
- PM records
- Breakdown reports
- Calibration/qualification-related documents
- Change Controls
- Deviations and CAPA
- Engineering logbooks
- Participate in GMP audits, regulatory inspections and customer audits.
- Ensure maintenance activities are performed without compromising product quality or contamination-control requirements.
- Support equipment qualification activities such as DQ, IQ, OQ and PQ, wherever applicable.
4. Engineering Projects & Modifications
- Handle plant engineering projects, equipment installation and modifications.
- Review equipment specifications, layouts, drawings and technical documents.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment installation, commissioning and qualification.
- Prepare/review AutoCAD drawings, equipment layouts, P&IDs and engineering modifications.
- Maintain updated engineering drawings and plant documentation.
5. Computer & Maintenance Systems
- Maintain good working knowledge of MS Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Use computerized maintenance systems/CMMS for:
- PM planning
- Work orders
- Breakdown tracking
- Spare-parts planning
- Equipment history
- Maintenance reports
- Prepare maintenance MIS, KPI reports and management dashboards.
6. AutoCAD & Pro/E
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for:
- Equipment layouts
- Plant layouts
- Mechanical drawings
- Piping layouts
- Engineering modifications
- Knowledge of Pro/E (Creo) for equipment/component design and engineering drawing review.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings and equipment specifications.
7. Spare Parts & Vendor Management
- Identify critical engineering spares and maintain optimum inventory levels.
- Review technical specifications and obtain quotations from vendors.
- Evaluate vendors and contractors based on technical capability, quality and service.
- Control maintenance costs while maintaining equipment reliability.
8. Safety
- Ensure safe execution of all maintenance activities.
- Implement appropriate LOTO, work permits, confined-space and hot-work safety procedures, as applicable.
- Ensure contractors follow site safety and GMP requirements.
- Participate in safety investigations and corrective actions.
9. Team Management
- Lead and develop the engineering/maintenance team.
- Allocate daily maintenance activities and monitor execution.
- Train engineers and technicians on equipment maintenance, GMP and safety.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with Production, QA, QC, EHS and other departments.
Key Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance and plant engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Reactors, ANFD, Filter Press and associated process equipment.
- Strong knowledge of Preventive Maintenance and Breakdown Maintenance.
- Good understanding of HVAC and plant utilities.
- Working knowledge of GMP requirements in pharmaceutical/API manufacturing.
- Knowledge of RCA, CAPA, Change Control and engineering documentation.
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of Pro/E / Creo.
- Good computer skills, particularly MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Preferred candidate profile
B.E./B.Tech./Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
A qualification in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience in pharmaceutical/API/chemical manufacturing is preferred.
