About the Role
Sravathi Manufacturing Solutions is building and scaling its manufacturing operations with a focus on safe, efficient, compliant and commercially sustainable manufacturing.
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for safe, reliable and compliant operation and maintenance of the plant electrical systems, including power distribution, motors, drives, lighting, earthing and emergency power.
The position will support installation, commissioning and stabilisation of the electrical systems of the new API plant, and will establish electrical maintenance practices and records from the start of operations.
During the construction phase, the role will focus on project execution of the electrical scope, from design review and equipment inspection to installation, testing, energization and handover.
Purpose of the Role
The Electrical Engineer ensures uninterrupted, safe and efficient power supply to process equipment and utilities, maintains electrical equipment in line with statutory, GMP and EHS requirements, and supports projects and energy-efficiency initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Execution Construction Phase
- Review electrical design documents, including load list, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, panel / transformer / DG specifications, lighting and earthing layouts, and hazardous-area classification drawings.
- Support vendor technical evaluation and inspect HT / LT panels, transformers, DG sets, UPS and motors at vendor works (FAT) and on receipt at site.
- Supervise installation of electrical systems, including transformers, panels, cable trays and laying, cable terminations, earthing, lightning protection, lighting and flameproof fittings, as per approved drawings and standards.
- Carry out pre-commissioning tests, including insulation resistance, continuity, earth-resistance, relay and protection settings, and motor trials; maintain test records.
- Coordinate with the power utility (DISCOM) and the Electrical Inspectorate for HT connection, inspection and approval; support energisation of the plant.
- Monitor contractor progress, manpower and quality; raise and close punch-list items; ensure electrical safety and permit compliance at the construction site, including temporary power.
- Ensure receipt of as-built drawings, test certificates, O&M manuals and spares lists at handover; set up equipment records for maintenance.
- Support commissioning of equipment and utilities with Mechanical and Instrumentation teams.
2. Electrical Operations & Maintenance
- Operate and maintain HT / LT panels, transformers, DG sets, MCC / PCC panels, UPS, battery banks, capacitor banks and power-factor correction systems.
- Execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of motors, VFDs / soft starters, switchgear and cabling as per approved schedules.
- Carry out thermography, insulation resistance testing, earth-resistance testing and relay / protection testing as per plan.
- Attend breakdowns promptly, carry out root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure round-the-clock power availability for critical process equipment, utilities and safety systems, including changeover to emergency power.
3. Hazardous Area & Electrical Safety
- Ensure electrical equipment in hazardous (solvent-handling) areas is flameproof / intrinsically safe as per area classification and is maintained as such.
- Maintain earthing, lightning protection and static-electricity control systems; ensure periodic testing and records.
- Implement electrical permit-to-work, LOTO and safe-isolation practices; ensure only authorised and trained persons work on electrical equipment.
- Ensure availability and periodic testing of electrical safety PPE and tools (insulated gloves, mats, tester, etc.).
4. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical statutes, including CEA safety regulations, Indian Electricity Rules, Factories Act and AP Factories Rules, as applicable.
- Coordinate inspections, approvals and periodic testing with the Electrical Inspectorate and the power utility (DISCOM).
- Maintain statutory registers, test certificates, single-line diagrams and licences of contractors / electricians.
5. GMP, Documentation & Qualification
- Maintain electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, load lists, equipment logbooks and maintenance records, in line with data-integrity (ALCOA+) principles.
- Support commissioning and qualification (IQ / OQ) of equipment and utilities from the electrical side.
- Support changes (MOC), deviations and CAPA involving electrical systems.
- Support internal, customer and regulatory audits.
6. Energy Management & Efficiency
- Monitor power consumption, maximum demand, power factor and energy-meter data; maintain energy reports.
- Identify and implement energy-saving opportunities (efficient motors, VFDs, LED lighting, load management).
- Support utility-wise energy benchmarking with the Maintenance & Engineering Manager.
7. Spares & Contractor Management
- Maintain critical electrical spares and coordinate procurement with Stores / Procurement.
- Supervise electrical contractors and technicians; ensure quality of work and adherence to site safety rules.
8. EHS & Team Interface
- Follow and promote safe-work practices; report incidents and near misses and close actions on time.
- Train and guide electricians and technicians; ensure shift-wise coverage and handover.
- Coordinate with Production, Instrumentation, Mechanical, EHS and Quality teams.
