Job summary

archateliê in Mumbai seeks a Mechanical Designer to design and plan HVAC, Fire Fighting and Plumbing systems for Commercial, Retail, and F&B projects. You will create layouts, schematics, and construction drawings, coordinating with other design disciplines.

The role requires 3–5 years of HVAC design experience, proficiency in AutoCAD/REVIT, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. This is a full-time Mumbai-based position with growth opportunities across time zones.

Qualifications

• Must have a 4-year bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of HVAC design, production, and documentation experience across design and construction phases.
• Prior global Retail and F&B project experience is preferred and beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and design mechanical systems for Commercial, Retail, and F&B projects.
• Execute HVAC, Fire Fighting, and Plumbing design tasks for assigned projects.
• Develop 2D drawings and 3D models (HVAC, Fire Fighting, Plumbing) including design reports and layouts using AutoCAD, REVIT, and related tools.
• Collaborate with Architectural, MEP teams and stakeholders to ensure clash-free designs and documentation.
• Review plans for technical accuracy, codes, and constructability; support on aggressive schedules.

This is a full-time role for a Mechanical Designer in the Mumbai office, who will be responsible for designing & planning HVAC, Fire Fighting & Plumbing systems, creating layouts, schematics, construction documentation drawings, and coordinating with other design disciplines and producing functional reports for multiple prestigious Commercial, Retail, F&B projects across the globe.

• Responsible for planning , coordinating, and designing mechanical engineering systems for Commercial, Retail, F&B projects .
• Execute day-to-day tasks related to HVAC, Fire Fighting and Plumbing design for the assigned projects.
• Responsible for the development of 2D drawings & 3D models of various HVAC, Fire Fighting and Plumbing systems as required for the assigned project including but not limited to Technical Due Diligence, Design Basis Report, HLC, HVAC, Fire Fighting & Plumbing Layout with High Side and Low Side Designs, using AutoCAD, REVIT and other relevant software.
• Ability to work on AutoCAD, ACC, BIM 360 & maintain BIM standards and library of BIM objects.
• Collaborate and coordinate with Architectural Design, MEP team, and other stakeholders to develop a clash-free system design.
• Self-Review plans and specifications for technical accuracy, code compliance, and constructability.
• Develops solutions to technical and design problems following established global standards.
• Coordinate with Architectural Professionals on projects to ensure continuity and consistency of documentation including organization, coordination, thoroughness, and accuracy of all documents in the drawing set.
• Work closely with the team and assist in the completion of projects on aggressive schedules.

Skills & Expertise:

• Strong knowledge in Mechanical Design and Engineering.
• Ability to analyze and understand complex mechanical systems and components.
• Knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate them into technical documents.
• Demonstrates proficient skills in AutoCAD / Revit, with an advanced level of expertise.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Take initiative and move forward on assigned tasks confidently while working independently and competently.

Education & Experience:

• 4 - Years of bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other equivalent education is a must.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of HVAC design, production, and technical experience through all phases of the design and construction documentation process.
• Prior experience with global Retail, and F&B projects is preferred and beneficial.
