Digantara in Bengaluru's Hebbal is seeking a passionate mechanical engineer to design reliable systems for Satellite Bus and Payloads. You will oversee end-to-end design, from concept to production, ensuring performance and manufacturability.

You will collaborate with flight, manufacturing and production teams, lead multiple projects, and solve complex mechanical challenges while adhering to aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or automotive engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience, space domain preferred.
• Experience with 3D CAD and 2D drawings, structural analysis, and end-to-end product development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical structures, mechanisms, and automated equipment for satellite production.
• Lead projects through concept to production launch with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with flight, manufacturing and production teams on satellite hardware and processes.
• Address speed, efficiency and manufacturability in mechanical solutions.

Ideal Candidate:

Someone with expertise in end-to-end design and development life-cycle of mechanical systems for Satellite Bus and Payloads.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical structures, mechanisms, and automated equipment for high-volume SSA satellite production.

• Lead projects through the full product lifecycle, including concept design, detailed design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and production launch.Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

• Collaborate with flight engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to develop satellite hardware, factory equipment, and manufacturing processes concurrently.

• Solve complex mechanical engineering problems with a focus on speed, efficiency, and manufacturability.

• Coordinate with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to maintain project schedules, cost targets, and technical requirements.

• Perform equipment assembly, commissioning, and validation of designed systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.

• Minimum 5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience, space domain preferred.

• Experience in mechanical system design using 3D CAD software and 2D engineering drawings.

• Experience with structural analysis and end-to-end product development.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in structural design and mechanical analysis.

• Experience in custom machine design and electromechanical systems, including motors, actuators, linear motion systems, bearings, and lifting or rigging equipment.

• Ability to perform hand calculations for structural and mechanical analysis.

• Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).

• Experience taking products from prototype development to high-volume manufacturing.

• Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools such as NASTRAN, ANSYS Workbench, or Siemens NX Advanced Simulation.

• Experience in product development, assembly integration & testing, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and error‑proofing methodologies.

• Knowledge of design and testing standards by NASA, ECSS, GSFC etc.

• Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA).

• Understands Failure modes, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA).
