Job summary

Digantara is seeking a Mechanical and Systems Integration Engineer to translate system requirements into mechanical layouts for ground systems and manage end-to-end integration. You will study vendor drawings, model 3D layouts, and prepare complete fabrication packages for mounts, enclosures and fixtures.

The role requires hands-on CAD proficiency, knowledge of machine design, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to ensure successful integration of payloads and subsystems at Bengaluru

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of mechanical design experience.
  • B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools.
  • Ability to generate 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • Knowledge of machine design and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to estimate payload envelope and tolerances.
  • Strong analytical and hands-on integration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Translate top-level system requirements into mechanical layout and integration for ground systems.
  • Study vendor datasheets, CAD models and interface drawings for mounts and enclosures.
  • Assess integration feasibility: CG, mass, envelope, cable routing, safety.
  • Generate 3D CAD models and integrated layouts; perform envelope/interference checks.
  • Create 2D manufacturing, interface, and assembly drawings, BoM and fabrication packages.
  • Design mechanical fixtures for payload mounting, alignment, lifting and transport.
  • Define integration sequence, procedures, inspection checklists and torque lists.
  • Assist hands-on integration, fitment checks, issue resolution and updates.
  • Coordinate with vendors, electrical/control engineers and system engineers to close interfaces.

Responsibilities
  • Understand top‑level system requirements and translate them into mechanical layout, interface and integration requirements for ground systems.
  • Study vendor datasheets, CAD models and interface drawings for stabilized mounts, telescope payloads, enclosures, electronics cabinets etc.
  • Study integration feasibility with respect to payload mass, centre of gravity, motion envelope, mounting interface, cable routing, maintenance access, stiffness, vibration isolation and environmental protection.
  • Generate 3D CAD models and integrated assembly layouts of the complete system, including subsystem placement and envelope/interference checks.
  • Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings, interface control drawings, assembly drawings, exploded views, BoM and fabrication packages for brackets, adapter plates, support frames and fixtures.
  • Design and realize mechanical fixtures required for payload mounting, additional support, alignment, lifting, transport locking, cable support and maintenance access.
  • Prepare the mechanical integration sequence, assembly procedure, inspection checklist, torque/fastener list, alignment method and test‑readiness checklist.
  • Support hands‑on integration, fitment checks, issue resolution, as‑built updates and end‑to‑end mechanical closure with cross‑functional teams.
  • Coordinate with vendors, fabrication suppliers, electrical/control engineers and system engineers to close mechanical interface and integration issues.
Required Qualification
  • 1–3 years of academic/project/industry experience in mechanical design, CAD modelling, fabrication drawings or mechanical integration.
  • B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Hands‑on proficiency in at least one 3D CAD tool such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent.
  • Ability to generate 3D models, 2D fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and interface drawings.
  • Basic understanding of machine design, fasteners, brackets, fixtures, tolerances, materials and manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal and fabrication.
  • Basic ability to estimate payload envelope, centre of gravity, load path, stiffness requirements and mechanical clearances.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, documentation and hands‑on integration skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with mobile platforms, stabilized mounts, telescope mounts, antennas, rugged enclosures or outdoor mechanical systems.
  • Exposure to vibration isolation, shock mounting, IP‑rated enclosures, sealing, cable glands, corrosion protection and marine/outdoor installations.
  • Basic familiarity with FEA tools such as ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation.
  • Ability to prepare BoMs, vendor fabrication packages, assembly procedures, inspection checklists and as‑built documentation.
