Job description

Digantara is a leading Space Surveillance and Intelligence company focused on ensuring orbital safety and sustainability. With expertise in space-based detection, tracking, identification, and monitoring, Digantara provides comprehensive domain awareness across regimes, allowing end users to have actionable intelligence on a single platform. At the core of its infrastructure lies a sophisticated integration of hardware and software capabilities aligned with the key principles of situational awareness: perception (data collection), comprehension (data processing), and prediction (analytics). This holistic approach empowers Digantara to monitor all Resident Space Objects (RSOs) in orbit, fostering comprehensive domain awareness.

Digantara is seeking an Avionics Engineer to design, realize and test satellite payload electronics. The engineer will be responsible for translating payload requirements into electronics architecture, selecting components, designing digital/analog/power circuits and interfaces, supporting PCB realization, integrating the hardware with payload sensors/processors and validating the design through board-level and system-level testing.

Why Us:
  • Competitive incentives, galvanizing workspace, blazing team, frequent outings—pretty much everything you have heard about a startup + you get to work on space technology.

  • Hustle in a well-funded startup, allowing you to take charge of your responsibilities and create your moonshot.

Ideal Candidate:

Someone with strong hands-on experience in electronic hardware design and testing, preferably for satellite payloads, avionics, high-reliability instrumentation or embedded systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Derive payload-electronics hardware requirements from system, FPGA/processor, power and spacecraft-bus requirements.

  • Develop payload electronics architecture covering power conditioning, processing/control electronics, data acquisition, memory, external interfaces, monitoring and protection.

  • Design analog, digital and mixed-signal circuits including ADC/DAC interfaces, clock, signal conditioning and housekeeping telemetry.

  • Design power trees, DC-DC/LDO stages, sequencing, protection, current/voltage monitoring and grounding schemes for payload electronics.

  • Select electronic components based on electrical performance and other factors and prepare schematics, component calculations, interface definitions, BoM and design-review documentation; support PCB stack-up, placement, routing and SI/PI considerations with layout engineers.

  • Support PCB fabrication, assembly, bring-up, debugging, rework and issue closure using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads and DMMs.

  • Plan and execute functional, performance, interface, power, thermal-vacuum support and environmental verification tests at board and payload levels.

  • Collaborate with FPGA, embedded software, mechanical, thermal, optics/sensor and systems teams during payload integration and qualification.

  • Maintain design files, test procedures, test reports, BoM, as-built configuration and engineering change documentation throughout the development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications:
  • B.Tech/B.E. in Electronics/Electrical/Electronics & Communication/Instrumentation Engineering, or M.Tech/M.E. in a relevant electronics/embedded systems discipline.

  • 2 to 4 years of demonstrated experience in electronic hardware design, realization and testing of embedded, avionics, instrumentation or payload electronics.

  • Strong fundamentals in analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, ADC/DAC interfacing, signal integrity, grounding and noise control.

  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, KiCad or equivalent.

  • Hands-on experience in board bring-up, debugging and hardware validation using standard laboratory test equipment.

  • Ability to read component datasheets, perform engineering calculations, prepare trade studies and select suitable parts for a defined application.

  • Good understanding of microcontroller/FPGA/SoC based hardware, memory devices and commonly used serial interfaces.

  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation and cross-functional engineering skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in satellite payload electronics, spacecraft avionics, aerospace electronics or other high-reliability electronic systems.

  • Knowledge of component derating, FMEA, worst-case circuit analysis, reliability, EMC/EMI and radiation-tolerant design practices.

  • Exposure to high-speed interfaces, precision analog front ends or detector readout electronics.

  • Familiarity with space-hardware development, workmanship and verification practices.

  • Basic scripting/programming in Python/MATLAB and familiarity with embedded C for hardware test and automation.

General Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a mission-focused, operational environment and take ownership of hardware from design through qualification.

  • Ability to think critically and make independent engineering decisions.

  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic multidisciplinary team.

  • Writing and delivering technical documents, design reviews and test reports.

  • Verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational skills.

  • Travel occasionally as necessary.
