Job summary

Inoble Mechway in Coimbatore seeks an experienced Sheet Metal Design Engineer to design components, prepare drawings, and support fabrication.

The candidate should have hands-on SOLIDWORKS expertise and knowledge of laser/plasma cutting, bending, and welding; GD&T in drawings; and ability to work with cross-functional teams. Experience with electrical enclosures is a plus; immediate joiners preferred.

Qualifications

• 4 to 5 years of experience in sheet metal design and fabrication.
• Proficient in SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal design and 2D drafting.
• Hands-on experience with laser cutting, plasma cutting, bending, and welding.
• Experience in designing electrical enclosures and control panels is a plus.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and ability to optimize designs for manufacturability.
• Good communication and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Design Engineer with strong expertise in SOLIDWORKS and sheet metal fabrication processes. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in designing sheet metal components, preparing manufacturing drawings, and supporting fabrication activities. Experience in electrical enclosure and control panel design will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop sheet metal components and assemblies using SOLIDWORKS.
• Prepare detailed 2D manufacturing drawings in accordance with industry standards.
• Generate laser cutting, plasma cutting, and nesting files for production.
• Collaborate with the fabrication team to ensure manufacturability and production efficiency.
• Design sheet metal parts considering fabrication processes such as laser cutting, plasma cutting, bending, and welding.
• Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles in engineering drawings.
• Define appropriate sheet metal parameters, bend allowances, and welding symbols as per standards.
• Review and optimize designs for cost-effectiveness, quality, and ease of manufacturing.
• Coordinate with production, quality, and project teams to resolve design-related issues.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and maintained according to company standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 4 to 5 years of experience in sheet metal design and fabrication.
• Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal.
• Hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication processes including:
  • Laser Cutting
  • Plasma Cutting
  • Sheet Metal Bending
  • Welding
• Strong knowledge of 2D drafting and manufacturing drawing preparation.
• Experience in nesting and laser cutting file generation.
• Good understanding of GD&T standards.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal design parameters, bend calculations, and welding symbols.
• Experience in designing Electrical Enclosures and Control Panels is an added advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
