About the Role:
Insight Technologies is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design & Development team.
The role involves designing and developing Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), Fixtures and Industrial Automation Systems, from concept and specification through engineering, validation and product launch.
Key Responsibilities:
- - Design and develop SPMs, automation systems, fixtures, machine structures and mechanical assemblies.
- - Drive mechanical product development from concept and specifications to final machine launch.
- - Perform engineering analysis of machine elements, sub-assemblies and structural components using first-principles engineering.
- - Perform calculations involving forces, torque, power, deflection, stress, vibration, thermal effects and metal cutting.
- - Select and evaluate motors, ball screws, linear guidance systems, hydraulic/pneumatic components, pumps and other machine elements.
- - Apply DFM, DFA, DFX and FMEA principles throughout the design process.
- - Conduct FEA and simulation for mechanical, thermal and vibrational behaviour.
- - Apply GD&T, material properties, heat treatment and surface treatment principles in design.
- - Define and execute life-cycle testing and validation of critical components, sub-assemblies and complete equipment.
- - Conduct feasibility studies for new technologies and engineering innovations.
- - Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver technically robust and manufacturable solutions.
Required Skills:
- - Strong experience in Mechanical Design & Development.
- - Hands-on experience with Fixtures, Automation and SPMs.
- - Strong understanding of machine building and mechanical systems.
- - Excellent knowledge of Machine Design, Engineering Mechanics and Machine Elements.
- - Strong understanding of GD&T, manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing.
- - Ability to perform engineering calculations and interpret simulation/FEA results.
- - Strong analytical, first-principles and critical-thinking approach.
- - Methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
