Job summary

NKT Operations in Chennai seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer - Accessories to design cable accessories for high‑voltage systems, develop 3D models and drawings, and prepare engineering documentation for on‑time delivery.

You will collaborate with tender, project, installation, procurement and technology teams, and apply SolidWorks, Windchill PLM, and machining and welding knowledge to continuous product improvement.

Qualifications

• BTech or MTech degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–6 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
• Proficiency with CAD software, especially SolidWorks.
• Experience with PLM systems and Windchill.
• Knowledge of machining and welding processes.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer - Accessories, you will be responsible for the design and development of cable accessories used in high-voltage cable systems. The role involves creating 3D models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation while ensuring quality and timely delivery. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support customer requirements, product updates, manufacturing considerations, and continuous product improvement activities.

Your responsibility will be:

• Design cable accessories for high-voltage cable systems
• Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation
• Update engineering documents based on customer requirements
• Collaborate with tender, project, installation, procurement, and technology teams
• Support testing activities, assembly instructions, and product improvement initiatives

You also have:

• BTech or MTech degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5 to 6 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
• Experience using CAD software, including SolidWorks
• Experience working with PLM systems and Windchill
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining and welding
• Knowledge of high-voltage power products or similar industry applications
