Hitachi Energy Ltd. in Vadodara, India, invites a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in Transformer design to join our Global Engineering Center.

You will contribute to the design of power transformers up to 600 MVA 400 kV, coordinating with global teams and ensuring IEC standard compliance. Ideal candidates have 8–12 years in mechanical design for transformers, proficiency in CAD/3D modelling (Creo preferred), and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with focus on design.
• 8–12 years in mechanical design for power transformers manufacturing.
• Proficient with CAD/3D modelling; Creo is advantageous.
• Understand transformer design, mechanical calculations, dielectrics, creepage/clearance.
• Familiar with IEC and European standards.
• Experience in winding design is beneficial.
• Experience in simulation or software development is a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office; strong communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Generate tank and externals meeting factory limitations, guidelines, and IEC standards.
• Prepare customer documents, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs per project schedule.
• Coordinate design activities within a global factories network.
• Participate in internal design concept reviews.
• Collaborate with technical teams across countries.
• Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• The success candidate will be the part of an International Design and Engineering Team specialized in Power Transformer up to 600 MVA 400 kV Class design covering different countries.
• Responsible to generate Tank & Externals meeting factory limitation, guideline, and checklist as per IEC standards.
• Responsible for Preparation of Customer documents, Manufacturing drawings, Bill of materials etc & submission to customer as per project schedule.
• Understanding of Transformer mechanical design, Thermal, Dielectrics, Short circuit and sound performance and transformer mechanics
• Coordinating design activities within a worldwide factories network.
• Participation in internal design concept reviews.
• Demonstrated team building skills and networking skills, would be a preference.
• Ability to speak with and work together with the technical teams in different parts of the world.

Your background

• B.E / B. Tech Mechanical Engineering.
• 8-12 Years Experience working in Mechanical design for Power Transformers manufacturing Industry. Candidates with higher experience also to be considered.
• Knowledge on CAD software, any 3D Modelling software is a must. Creo is considered as an advantage.
• Should understand Transformer Design, Mechanical Calculations, Dielectrics, clearance/creepage, basic layout and cleats lead arrangement.
• Should have good understanding of IEC Standards & European Standards.
• Experience in winding design is an advantage.
• Experience in Simulation or software development would be advantageous.
• Experience on Microsoft office and tools.
• Ability to speak with and work together with the technical teams in different parts of the world.
• Demonstrated team building skills, would be a preference.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
