Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Vadodara, India, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Global Engineering Center. You will contribute to the development and design of Dry Type Distribution transformers up to 10 MVA 33 kV, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet specifications and standards.

The role requires a background in mechanical engineering, 0–2 years of experience, and proficiency in CAD/3D modelling (Creo preferred).

Qualifications

• M.E / M.Tech Mechanical Engineering required.
• 0–2 years experience in mechanical design for distribution dry transformers preferred.
• Knowledge of CAD software and 3D modelling; Creo is an advantage.
• Understand transformer design, mechanical calculations, dielectrics, clearance/creepage, basic layout.
• Familiarity with IS/IEC/IEEE standards & Canadian standards.
• Winding design / tank & externals experience is a plus.
• Experience in simulation or software development would help.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to international design and engineering for Dry Type Distribution transformers up to 10 MVA 33 kV.
• Generate active part, windings, tank and externals meeting factory guidelines and standards.
• Prepare customer docs, manufacturing drawings and BOMs per project schedule.
• Coordinate design activities across global factories and participate in design reviews.
• Support cross-functional teams to optimize performance and reliability.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• The success candidate will be the part of an International Design and Engineering Team specialized in Dry Type Distribution transformer up to 10 MVA 33 kV Class design covering different countries.
• Responsible to generate active part and windings/ Tank & Externals meeting factory limitation, guideline, and checklist as per IEEE / IEC /IS standards.
• Responsible for Preparation of Customer documents, Manufacturing drawings, Bill of materials etc & submission to customer as per project schedule.
• Understanding of Transformer mechanical design, Thermal, Dielectrics, Short circuit and sound performance and transformer mechanics
• Coordinating design activities within a worldwide factories network.
• Participation in internal design concept reviews.
• Demonstrated team building skills and networking skills, would be a preference.
• Ability to speak with and work together with the technical teams in different parts of the world.

• M.E / M.Tech Mechanical Engineering.
• 0–2 years Experienced working in Mechanical Design for Distribution Dry transformer manufacturing Industry. Candidates with higher experience also to be considered.
• Knowledge on CAD software, any 3D Modelling software is a must. Creo is considered as an advantage.
• Should understand Transformer Design, Mechanical Calculations, Dielectrics, clearance/creepage, basic layout and cleats lead arrangement.
• Should have good understanding of IS/ IEC /IEEE Standards & Canadian Standards
• Experience in winding design / Tank & externals is an advantage
• Experience in Simulation or software development would be advantageous.
• Experience on Microsoft office and tools.
• Ability to speak with and work together with the technical teams in different parts of the world.
• Demonstrated team building skills, would be a preference.
• Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
