Job summary

Job description

Role & responsibilities :

1. Mechanical Design & Engineering

• Lead the design and development of industrial machinery, automation equipment, mechanical systems, machine assemblies, and special-purpose machines.
• Develop innovative mechanical designs, concepts, layouts, and detailed engineering solutions based on customer and project requirements.
• Prepare 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed component drawings.
• Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, material selection, and engineering feasibility assessments.
• Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, reliable, and suitable for manufacturing and assembly.

2. CAD Software & Technical Expertise

• Demonstrate excellent hands-on proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and other relevant 3D CAD software.
• Utilize Autodesk AutoCAD for 2D drafting and engineering documentation.
• Develop complex 3D models, assemblies, sheet-metal components, machine structures, and fabrication drawings.
• Manage CAD data, drawing revisions, bill of materials (BOM), and engineering documentation.
• Apply design standards, GD&T, fits and tolerances, and standard engineering practices.

3. Design Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and supervise the mechanical design team, ensuring timely completion of design deliverables.
• Allocate design assignments, monitor progress, and review the quality and accuracy of engineering outputs.
• Establish design standards, workflows, documentation procedures, and drawing-checking practices.
• Develop team capabilities and improve design productivity.

4. Manufacturing & Production Coordination

• Work closely with production, fabrication, machining, assembly, and quality teams to ensure smooth execution of designs.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing issues, assembly difficulties, and design modifications.
• Ensure drawings and designs are optimized for manufacturability, ease of assembly, serviceability, and cost reduction.
• Coordinate engineering changes and resolve technical issues during machine development and production.

5. Project Execution & Continuous Improvement

• Coordinate with project management, electrical, controls, and automation teams for integrated machine development.
• Ensure timely release of drawings, BOMs, and other engineering deliverables as per project schedules.
• Identify opportunities for standardization, modular design, component reuse, and value engineering.
• Drive continuous improvement in design quality, product reliability, and engineering efficiency.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Exceptional mechanical design and engineering capabilities.
• Strong hands-on experience in 3D modelling, complex assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Excellent working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, fabrication, sheet-metal work, and assembly.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering tolerances, materials, fits, and mechanical design principles.
• Experience in preparing and managing BOMs, engineering change documentation, and technical specifications.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and team management abilities.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet strict engineering deadlines.
