Job summary

SFO Technologies in Kochi, Kerala, invites a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, and manufacturing-related solutions using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

The ideal candidate has a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and at least two years of hands-on experience, strong drawing and GD&T skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive design feasibility and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design.
• B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Develop detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
• Prepare engineering drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
• Work closely with manufacturing, production, quality, and other engineering teams to ensure design feasibility.
• Review designs and incorporate engineering changes based on project requirements.
• Support prototype development, testing, and design validation.
• Identify and resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and assembly.
• Maintain proper documentation of drawings, BOMs, revisions, and engineering changes.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards and company requirements.
• Support continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives through design optimization.

Job Purpose

• Develop detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.

• Understanding of materials, machining, fabrication, and sheet-metal design will be an advantage.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred

• Experience in electronics manufacturing / EMS / industrial equipment / automation will be an added advantage.
• Experience in designing fixtures, jigs, enclosures, brackets, and mechanical assemblies is preferred.
