Job summary

Hexad Engineering Llp in Bengaluru, India, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead switchboard enclosure and busbar design projects. You will develop 2D/3D CAD models using SolidWorks PDM, select materials, and optimize manufacturability and cost.

You will ensure compliance with UL, NEC, IEC, and other standards, collaborate with electrical engineers and project managers, verify mechanical performance and safety, and generate complete engineering documentation while maintaining design

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive mechanical designs for switchboard enclosures and busbars using CAD (SolidWorks PDM) to create 2D and 3D models.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes considering cost, performance, and industry best practices.
• Use simulation and analysis tools to optimize designs for performance, reliability, and thermal management.
• Lead the mechanical design process to comply with industry standards and regulations (ANSI, IEEE, IEC, local codes).
• Ensure switchboard design compliance with electrical codes and safety standards such as UL891, UL67, UL508A, UL50, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, IEC.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, design teams, and project managers to meet objectives.
• Verify that designs meet mechanical performance and safety standards (UL, NEC).
• Investigate and resolve mechanical quality issues identified during production or in the field.
• Generate engineering documentation including mechanical specs, BOMs, and manuals.
• Maintain records of design changes, revisions, and updates.
• Monitor budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities through design optimization.

• Develop comprehensive mechanical designs for switchboard enclosures, busbars, and structural components, utilizing advanced CAD (SolidWorks PDM) software to create detailed 2D and 3D models.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for all components, considering cost-effectiveness, performance requirements, and industry best practices.
• Employ simulation and analysis tools to optimize designs for superior performance, reliability, and thermal management.
• Lead the mechanical design process to strictly comply with relevant industry standards and regulations (ANSI, IEEE, IEC, local codes).
• Ensure that switchboard design complies with relevant design practices, electrical codes, and safety standards such as UL891, UL67, UL508A, UL50, the National Electric Code (NEC), ANSI, IEEE, IEC.
• National Electrical Code (NEC 2008-2020), NYNEC, UL 891, UL67, UL 50, UL 508a in product development
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, design teams, and project managers to achieve project objectives seamlessly.
• Verify switchboard designs meet stringent mechanical performance and safety standards (e.g., UL, NEC).
• Investigate and resolve any mechanical quality issues or non-conformities identified during production or in the field.
• Generate comprehensive engineering documentation, including detailed mechanical specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and user-friendly technical manuals.
• Maintain accurate records of all design changes, revisions, and updates.
• Actively monitor project budgets and identify cost‑saving opportunities through design optimization without compromising quality or safety.
