Job summary

Eaton in India, Maharashtra seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to develop wiring schemes, layouts and technical drawings for engineered-to-order projects, ensuring timely production packages for switchgear, panel boards and distribution units.

You will work on complex assemblies from customer specifications, apply drafting standards, perform quality checks and coordinate with sales, engineering and planning to ensure feasibility and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• BE in Electrical Engineering.
• 3 - 4 years experience with minimum 2 years in Electrical Design switchgears, panel boards, switches.
• Experience with EPLAN/AutoCAD Electrical and electrical drawing practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical design documents and wiring schemes/layouts for production.
• Ensure compliance with ANSI, UL, IEEE or IEC standards.
• Create BOM and ERP configuration aligned with customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Sales, electrical engineering, order management, planning and assembly.

What You’ll Do

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be providing Electrical design document, Wiring schemes /layout /diagrams and technical drawings with taking care of the work preparation for ETO (Engineered to Order), in accordance with applicable procedures and guidelines, so that the information package for production (assembly and inspection) is available on time for Switchgear, Panelboards, distribution units etc. He/she is expected to also work on overall layout and connection details for complex assemblies from customer specifications and information; perform a wide variety of activities requiring the application of more complex drafting principles and related technical knowledge. Develop best practices working closely with teammates.

• Ensure received information from customer specifications, application and electrical engineering completeness and if necessary, discuss and request additional information
• Proficiency Electrical Wiring Scheme or and layout design with EPLAN, AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical etc. software
• Ensure adherence to international standards such as ANSI, UL, IEEE or IEC for designing/drafting of electrical schematics and Knowledge of ANSI/IEC symbols
• Application of standard industry drafting/modeling practices. Perform Quality Checks to ensure drawings meets customer standards / requirements
• Bill Of Material and proper Product ERP Configuration Creation in full compatibility with customer request and other design engineer output.
• Responsible in understanding working principles of various LV equipment like Switchgear, Panel boards, transformer, Circuit breaker, relay, switches etc.
• Technical support to various internal departments like assembly with regard to electrical implementation, feasibility and availability of componenets.
• Perform control/power cable sizing and component mounting in electrical product.
• Interprets Metering & modes of communication (communication protocols) will be an added advantage.
• Proactively communicates with all stakeholders involved (Sales, electrical engineering, order management, planning and assembly) on both technical matters and process related matters.
• Pro-actively communicates feasibility and progress of work within the required quality and timing.
• Document all activities, data and information in line with procedures.
• Communication with Change Management and R&D teams to reflect modification on ERP.
• Continuous Improvement/Automation efforts will be an added advantage.

Qualifications

BE in Electrical Engineering

3 - 4 Years with Minimum 2 years experience in Electrical Design switchgears, panel boards, switches etc.

Skills

Hands on knowledge on LV products, ERP software's and Electrical CAD tools and drawing practices.
