You will oversee plant setup, equipment selection, and techno-commercial assessments, while driving product development and business growth in a fast‑growing renewable energy domain.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of experience in related field.
• Qualification as listed: B.Tech / M.Tech / M.Sc. in relevant disciplines.
• Experience with biomass to biochar/bio-pellet processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead Biochar production facilities design, operation and optimization.
• Oversee Bio-Pellet production including material selection and drying/pelletizing.

About the Role

Farmwatt Innovations is looking for an experienced professional to lead the development, production and commercialization of Biochar and Bio-Pellet products using agricultural and biomass residues.

The role will focus on converting biomass such as paddy straw, Juliflora, bamboo, cotton stalk and other agricultural residues into commercially viable value-added products through appropriate processing technologies.

The candidate will be responsible for technology selection, plant setup, production, quality, raw-material sourcing, product development, cost optimization and business development for the Biochar and Bio-Pellet vertical.

Key Responsibilities

1. Biochar Production

• Lead the development and operation of Biochar production facilities.
• Understand and optimize pyrolysis / oxygen-limited thermal conversion processes.
• Develop processes for converting different biomass feedstocks into quality Biochar.
• Ensure consistent product quality, production efficiency and yield.
• Develop SOPs for biomass preparation, processing, production, storage and handling.

2. Bio-Pellet Production

• Lead the development and operation of biomass pellet production facilities.
• Evaluate suitable raw materials and their suitability for pelletization.
• Optimize drying, grinding, pelletizing, cooling and storage processes.
• Improve pellet quality, calorific value, durability and production efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to reduce production and logistics costs.

3. Biomass Procurement & Feedstock Management

• Identify and evaluate suitable agricultural and biomass residues.
• Develop raw-material sourcing and aggregation strategies.
• Coordinate with biomass collection teams and suppliers.
• Assess moisture, quality, availability and seasonal variation of biomass.
• Develop efficient biomass storage and logistics systems.

4. Plant Setup & Project Execution

• Evaluate suitable technologies, machinery and equipment.
• Coordinate with technology providers and equipment manufacturers.
• Support plant layout, capacity planning and equipment selection.
• Prepare project feasibility and techno-commercial assessments.
• Coordinate installation, commissioning and stabilization of production units.
• Monitor plant productivity, downtime, yield and operating costs.

5. Product Quality & Development

• Establish quality parameters and testing standards for Biochar and Bio-Pellets.
• Develop different product specifications based on customer requirements.
• Conduct trials with different biomass feedstocks.
• Continuously improve product quality and production economics.

6. Sales & Business Development

• Identify potential customers and markets for Biochar and Bio-Pellets.
• Develop institutional and industrial customers.
• Explore applications of Bio-Pellets as a renewable fuel.
• Explore agricultural applications of Biochar as a soil amendment / carbon-rich soil input.
• Develop partnerships with industries, farmers, FPOs, distributors and other stakeholders.
• Support the development of long-term offtake arrangements.

7. Biochar & Carbon Benefit

• Understand the potential of Biochar for long-term carbon storage and soil improvement.
• Maintain appropriate production and application records that may support future carbon-credit opportunities.
• Coordinate with external experts where required for carbon-related certification or assessment.
