Job summary

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to own and execute complex industrial automation projects from concept through installation. You will design, program, and support customized control systems across robotics, safety, and advanced manufacturing domains.

You’ll collaborate with customers, engineering, manufacturing, and outside suppliers to translate requirements into reliable, well-documented systems with strong electrical design and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of industrial controls or automation engineering experience.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley RSLogix 500 and Studio 5000.
  • Experience with Siemens Step 7 Professional and TIA Portal.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, sensors, communications, inspection systems, and automation safety.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong troubleshooting, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Willingness to travel based on project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop industrial electrical and controls solutions for specialized automated equipment.
  • Design electrical schematics and system drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Program and architect PLC, HMI, robotic, and vision applications.
  • Analyze project requirements and complete technical calculations for electrical systems, robotic safety, and motor controls.
  • Integrate servos, VFDs, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, sensors, pneumatics, and robotic systems.
  • Create accurate bills of materials and specify equipment from outside suppliers.
  • Support equipment manufacturing, assembly, testing, validation, and commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and resolve problems that could impact project timing or cost.
  • Prepare user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical documentation.
  • Communicate with customers to clarify requirements, provide technical support, and document system changes.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable safety standards and project requirements.
  • Travel to customer locations for installation and startup when required.

This role offers the opportunity to work on unique equipment, robotic integrations, safety systems, and advanced manufacturing solutions—not the same machine copied and pasted all year.
