Alvarez & Marsal is seeking a seasoned Strategy Consultant to work with senior clients in Financial Services across banking, lending, payments and fintech. You will help shape growth, entry strategies and operating models through rigorous analysis and actionable recommendations.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, delivering transformation roadmaps and governance frameworks while managing client relationships and ensuring high-quality outputs.

Qualifications

• MBA preferred from a leading institution with a strong academic record.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience, including strategy consulting or transformation roles in leading banks, NBFCs, fintechs or payments companies.
• Strong Financial Services experience across banking, lending, payments, fintech and NBFCs is essential.

Responsibilities

• Structure complex client problems, develop hypotheses and analytical workplans.
• Conduct primary and secondary research, data analysis, benchmarking and business‑case development.
• Develop transformation roadmaps, target operating models, implementation plans and governance frameworks.
• Work closely with client stakeholders to validate findings, align recommendations and support execution.
• Independently manage workstreams and deliver high‑quality outputs with limited supervision.

Job Roles & Responsibilities

The incumbent will work with senior team members to advise leading Financial Services clients on strategy and transformation priorities. The role will involve solving complex business problems, developing fact-based recommendations, and supporting implementation across banking, lending, payments, fintech and NBFC businesses. The candidate should bring strong Financial Services sector knowledge, structured problem-solving skills and meaningful experience in strategy consulting or in-house strategy and transformation roles.

Strategy Development And Business Transformation

• Support the development of growth, market-entry, operating-model, customer, product and digital strategies for Financial Services clients.
• Assess business performance, market dynamics, customer needs and competitive positioning to identify strategic priorities.
• Translate analysis into clear, actionable recommendations and executive-level presentations.

Project Delivery And Implementation

• Structure complex client problems, develop hypotheses and define analytical workplans.

• Communicate directly with clients, potential buyers/investors and other advisors.

• Develop strong client relationships by consistently delivering high-quality outcomes and maintaining regular communication.
• Clearly and confidently articulate ideas in both written and verbal communications.

Team Collaboration

• Work with other team members to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Actively contribute to team discussions and leverage collective expertise to deliver exceptional client results.

Industry Knowledge

• Stay informed on trends, regulations, and market dynamics impacting the sector of expertise.
• Possess strong knowledge of the chosen sector and its sub-sectors
• Contribute to thought leadership by analyzing sector trends and developing insights to support client decision-making

Basic Qualifications & Skills

Education: MBA preferred from a leading institution, including the old IIMs, ISB, XLRI, FMS and SPJIMR, with a strong academic record.

• Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience, including prior experience in strategy consulting with firms, or in strategy and transformation roles within leading banks, NBFCs, fintechs or payments companies.
• Strong Financial Services experience is essential, preferably across banking, lending, payments, fintech and NBFCs.
