Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in India seeks a seasoned Quality Engineer focused on aluminium casting and supplier quality management. You will analyze defects, drive supplier audits, and ensure adherence to PPAP and six sigma practices across machining, assembly and field support.

The role demands 10–15 years of experience, BE/BTech in Metallurgy, and strong analytical and negotiation skills to lead cross-functional teams and supplier improvements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of aluminium casting processes and defects, remedies and heat treatment.
• Experience with supplier quality management, audits and SCARs.
• Familiarity with PPAP, SPC, MSA and six sigma tools is an advantage.
• Strong analytical ability and capability to take strong positions.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve aluminium casting rejection during machining and assembly.
• Analyse and resolve concerns related to aluminium casting across lines.
• Drive supplier audits, visits adherence, and closure of gaps observed.
• Ensure supplier parts meet 100% PIST & PIPC adherence.

Job Description:

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

1. Monitoring, analysis & improvement of Aluminium casting rejection during machining
2. Analyse & resolve concerns related to Aluminium casting, machining at machining line, assembly line, user plant & field.
3. Monitor & close supplier part concerns by deploying adequate immediate & permanant actions at supplier end.
4. Monitor & improve supplier performance, improve stright pass ratio of supplier parts.
5. Drive collaboration with suppliers to improve their manufacturing processes and deploy processes , improvements, actions ,pokayokes, etc.
6. Plan supplier audits, monitor adherance of visits, closure of gaps observed, etc.
7. Monitor, check & ensure 100% PIST & PIPC adherance for ownership supplier parts.
8. Ensure that the lessons learned from product families are shared with the platform team (COE, CDMM etc.) for new product development as input for prevention of repeated known issues
9. Provide support and involvement in new product development, improvements through early involvement into product development Process and completion of joint PPAP with CDMM
10. Participation & Co ordination of concern resolution with Field, User plant and in-house for critical parts
11. Monitor supplier performance measurement, supplier audits and Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR), etc.
12. Develop and ensure implementation of process norms for management of suppliers by Verification of products and services from the suppliers.
13. Evaluation of performance of suppliers and monitor the improvement plans.
14. Enhance technical capabilities of vendor through systems and knowledge upgradations
15. Review, Analyze and implement results of quality audits at supplier end

Knowldge of Aluminium casting processes - GDC, HPDC, LPDC & defects generated in the the process, remedies of those defects, . Knowledge of Heat Treatment of Aluminium castings. Knowledge of machining processes, functional tests like leakage, continuity, millipore, etc. Functional knowledge of Aluminium castings used in Engine & Transmission line Cylinder blocks, Heads, Pipes, Transmission housings, pipes, etc. Knowledge of Dimensional (GD &T), X ray, Chemical, Mechanical & Metallurgical checks on Aluminium castings & machined parts. Familiar with PPAP, SPC, MSA, 7 QC tools, etc. Knowledge of QC story , six sigma methodology & its usage will be an added advantage. Familiar with supplier quality management systems like supplier performance monitoring, supplier audits, supplier improvements, process development, etc. Ability to take strong positions and not bow to pressure, high level of analytical ability
