Role & responsibilities
Job Purpose
To develop, coordinate, and deliver Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design solutions for building and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements, applicable codes, standards, sustainability objectives, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design
- Prepare HVAC system designs including load calculations, equipment sizing, ducting layouts, ventilation systems, and smoke management systems.
- Develop mechanical system drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders for integrated design solutions.
- Review equipment selections and vendor technical submissions.
Electrical Design
- Design power distribution systems, lighting systems, earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Prepare electrical load calculations, single-line diagrams (SLDs), cable sizing, and lighting layouts.
- Design ELV systems such as Fire Alarm, Access Control, CCTV, PA System, Data & Voice Systems, and Building Management Systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards and statutory requirements.
Plumbing & Firefighting Design
- Design water supply, drainage, sewage, stormwater, and rainwater harvesting systems.
- Prepare plumbing calculations, hydraulic design reports, and layout drawings.
- Design firefighting systems including hydrants, sprinklers, fire pumps, and associated networks.
- Coordinate with local authorities and obtain approvals where required.
Design Coordination & Project Management
- Coordinate multidisciplinary MEP designs and ensure clash-free deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and technical discussions with clients and consultants.
- Ensure designs comply with national and international codes, local regulations, and project specifications.
- Review BIM/Revit models and support digital design initiatives.
- Monitor design schedules and ensure timely submission of deliverables.
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
Preferred candidate profile
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
- Master's degree will be an added advantage.
- Relevant professional certifications shall be preferred.
Experience
- 5-15 years of experience in MEP design for commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, mixed-use, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with consultants, EPC organizations, PMC firms, or real estate developers preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and BIM platforms.
- Knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design standards.
- Familiarity with IS Codes, NBC, IEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, IPC, and local authority requirements.
- Working knowledge of design software such as ETAP, Dialux, HAP, Elite, or equivalent tools.
- Strong understanding of engineering calculations and design documentation.
