Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced, technically strong, and detail-oriented Manager / Senior Manager – Design & Engineering to lead basic and detailed engineering for rooftop and ground-mounted solar power projects. The candidate will be responsible for developing optimized, technically compliant, and cost-effective engineering solutions from initial feasibility and concept design through detailed engineering, final Bill of Materials (BOM), and execution support. The ideal candidate must have strong hands‑on experience in solar EPC design, electrical and civil/structural engineering coordination, engineering calculations, equipment selection, technical specifications, and design optimization. The candidate should be capable of balancing technical performance, safety, constructability, project cost, and contractual requirements while leading a multidisciplinary engineering team.
A. Basic and Detailed Engineering: Lead basic and detailed design engineering for rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV projects across different capacities. Review project inputs, site surveys, feasibility assessments, client specifications, tender documents, and contractual requirements. Develop concept designs, design philosophies, engineering criteria, system configurations, and technical design packages. Ensure seamless transition from preliminary engineering to detailed design and execution ready drawings. Coordinate with project execution, procurement, quality, commissioning, and O&M teams to ensure design practicality and constructability. Provide technical support during project execution and resolve site-related engineering issues.
B. Solar PV System Design and Optimization: Prepare and review PV module layouts, string configurations, inverter sizing, DC/AC ratios, equipment placement, and plant capacity optimization. Optimize module orientation, tilt angle, row spacing, shading losses, cable routing, and energy yield. Evaluate rooftop structural constraints, available installation areas, roof loading, access pathways, and maintenance clearances. Develop ground‑mounted plant layouts considering topography, grading, drainage, access roads, soil conditions, setbacks, and evacuation infrastructure. Evaluate alternative design configurations to improve generation, reduce electrical losses, minimize material consumption, and lower overall project costs. Support energy yield assessments and performance calculations using appropriate engineering tools and simulation software.
C. Electrical Design and Engineering: Prepare and review single-line diagrams (SLDs), DC and AC schematics, string layouts, cable schedules, cable sizing calculations, and electrical load calculations. Perform voltage-drop, short‑circuit, fault‑level, earthing, lightning protection, and electrical equipment sizing calculations. Design and review inverter transformer systems, HT/LT switchgear, protection systems, metering arrangements, and auxiliary power systems. Develop earthing layouts, lightning protection layouts, cable trench and tray routing, and electrical equipment layouts. Prepare protection coordination requirements, relay setting inputs, and grid interface engineering in coordination with relevant specialists. Review grid connectivity requirements and coordinate technical submissions for utility approvals and electrical inspections. Ensure appropriate consideration of electrical safety, system reliability, maintainability, and applicable grid requirements.
D. Civil, Structural and Mechanical Engineering Coordination: Coordinate structural engineering for rooftop mounting systems and ground-mounted module mounting structures (MMS). Review structural loading, wind loads, foundations, pile design inputs, soil investigation reports, and mounting structure specifications. Coordinate civil drawings for foundations, inverter and transformer platforms, control rooms, cable trenches, roads, drainage, and associated infrastructure. Review roof load assessments, waterproofing requirements, structural adequacy, and installation constraints for rooftop projects. Verify alignment between module dimensions, mounting structure design, equipment foundations, and electrical layouts. Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to resolve interdisciplinary engineering conflicts.
E. Engineering Calculations, Standards and Compliance
F. Bill of Materials (BOM) and Cost Optimization
G. Technical Specifications and Vendor Engineering
H. Design Review and Quality Assurance: Establish design review procedures, interdisciplinary checks, and engineering document control systems. Conduct design reviews, constructability assessments, and internal technical audits before drawing release. Implement revision control, approval workflows, and document traceability. Ensure timely issuance of approved‑for‑construction (AFC) drawings and other execution critical documents. Resolve engineering comments from clients, consultants, utilities, and project execution teams. Maintain a repository of standard designs, lessons learned, and engineering best practices.
I.Team Leadership and Cross‑Functional Coordination: Lead, mentor, and develop design engineers and multidisciplinary engineering resources.
