Sector Renewable Energy / Solar Engineering / Solar EPC
Key Responsibilities 1. Design Leadership & Project Ownership Lead and manage the engineering design process for ground-mount solar projects from initial concept through detailed design, execution, and commissioning. Ensure all designs comply with national and international standards (IEC, IS, IEEE), local regulations, and project-specific requirements. Coordinate design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering approvals at various stages of project development.
2. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination Work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, civil engineers, procurement teams, and construction/installation teams to ensure seamless integration of design concepts. Provide technical inputs during project planning, bid preparation, and client meetings. Communicate effectively with external stakeholders including consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
3. Site Assessment & Feasibility Analysis Conduct detailed site inspections, topographical assessments, geotechnical evaluations, and shading analyses. Perform feasibility studies to determine optimal plant layout, module orientation, row spacing, and land utilization. Identify potential challenges related to terrain, soil, climate, and accessibility, and propose engineering solutions.
4. Detailed Engineering & Documentation Prepare and review engineering plans, GA drawings, BOMs, SLDs, layouts, and construction-ready documents using CAD & solar design software (AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, etc.). Develop structural designs for module-mounting structures in coordination with structural engineers. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of all technical documentation.
5. Engineering Analysis & Optimization Conduct performance simulations, yield assessments, and energy production forecasts. Perform engineering calculations related to shading, cable sizing, load flow, grounding, structural loading, and thermal analysis. Continuously optimize system design to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance long-term reliability.
6. Procurement & Vendor Coordination Prepare technical specifications and evaluate vendor proposals for modules, inverters, MMS, transformers, and other BOS components. Work closely with the procurement team to ensure timely sourcing, quality verification, and compliance with project requirements. Conduct technical audits and design validation with suppliers.
7. Team Leadership & Mentorship Provide technical guidance, direction, and mentorship to junior engineers and drafting teams. Conduct training sessions to enhance the skills and technical capabilities of the engineering team. Lead multidisciplinary technical discussions and ensure proper knowledge-sharing.
8. Project Management & Execution Support Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful and timely delivery. Support construction teams by resolving design-related issues, conducting design checks, and providing technical clarifications. Participate in commissioning activities and ensure design intent is adhered to during execution.
Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. Experience: 5–10 years of relevant experience in designing and managing ground-mount solar projects. Proven leadership experience in engineering teams or design departments. Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SketchUp, STAAD Pro (added advantage), and MS Office tools. Strong understanding of PV modules, inverters, BOS components, and grid-connected solar power systems. Deep knowledge of codes and standards (IS/IEC/IEEE/NBC). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
