Job summary

The Program Development (PD) team in Mumbai works on new program design to increase reach and impact of TechnoServe India’s work. The PD role leads fundraising strategies and partnerships with international donors, based in Mumbai.

Key tasks include designing programs across value chains, donor landscape mapping, and crafting compelling proposals and concept notes to secure funding and long‑term collaborations with public and private donors.

Qualifications

• Graduate or postgraduate in Development Economics, Journalism or similar from International or premier institutions.
• 6–10 years of experience in a consulting or development sector.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills (written and oral).
• Ability to understand business models and craft high quality pitch decks.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse team across geographies and deliver on time.

Responsibilities

• Design innovative programs on value chain strengthening, farmer incomes, sustainable sourcing and entrepreneurship; conduct market research.
• Perform donor landscaping to map funding sources and align with priorities.
• Write winning proposals with staff and leadership to secure funding.
• Develop concept notes and pitch documents to garner donor interest.
• Guide the proposal development process with calendars and reviews.
• Support all aspects of proposal development, coordinating dispersed teams.
• Build internal capacity in new business development and knowledge management.
• Coordinate with Global Program Development and Strategic Initiatives teams.
• Contribute to PD operations through updates of resources and processes.
• Cultivate new prospects and liaise with donors.

Job description

The Program Development (PD) team sits in the Mumbai office and works on new program design to increase the reach and impact of TechnoServe India’s work. The PD team is responsible for designing high impact and innovative programs on agriculture, entrepreneurship, climate change and sustainable food value chains. The role would develop, lead and strengthen fundraising strategies, and strategic partnerships with international donors.

The position would be based out of Mumbai.

Specific tasks would include (but not limited to)

• Design innovative programs on value chain strengthening, improve farmer incomes, sustainable sourcing, regenerative agriculture, entrepreneurship, and conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities and gaps.
• Perform donor landscaping to map potential funding sources and tailor program design to align with donor priorities and market needs.
• Write winning proposals: Collaborate with project staff and regional leadership to design, write, and submit clear, concise, and compelling proposals that result in funding for the organization.
• Develop concept notes and pitch documents that garner donor interest and lay the foundation for long-term partnerships.
• Guide the proposal development process: develop and manage proposal calendars; facilitate kick-off and review meetings; develop the proposal outline with compliance guidelines.
• Support all aspects of proposal development, including coordinating complex efforts with dispersed proposal team members, drafting and updating organizational qualifications statements, editing and formatting technical proposals, drafting staffing and management sections, and supporting recon and capture efforts.
• Build internal capacity in new business development, ensure the adoption of best practices, initiate quality assurance systems.
• Coordinate with TechnoServe’s Global Program Development and Strategic Initiatives teams to share intel and best practices, contribute to global initiatives, and collaborate on
• Contribute to improved efficiency and effectiveness of PD operations through knowledge management, including updating and expanding PD resources, tools, and processes.
• Actively cultivate new prospects: create and strengthen relationships with public and private donors
• Liaise with public sector funding agencies, institutional foundations, corporations and other private donors.
• Review and support the development of budgets
