Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Manager of Product Development to provide technical leadership for developing and supporting software products in a cloud-native, agile environment. You will analyze business requirements, design solutions, and mentor developers across teams.

You will lead end-to-end project delivery, enforce coding standards, drive SDLC improvements, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality healthcare software solutions.

Qualifications

Direct Reports:

JOB PURPOSE

The Manager of Product Development is responsiblefor providing technical leadership and expertise for developing andsupporting new and existing software products within at HCA Healthcare. Thisindividual will analyze business requirements, perform design tasks,construct, test, and cloud-native implement solutions in an agiledevelopment environment, and provide mentorship to other developers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES ANDACCOUNTABILITIES

• Development Standards: Ensure that staff engineers adhere to HCAHealthcare's established standards and procedures for developmentactivities. This includes maintaining code and version control through thespecified application development software.
• Project Management: Lead and manage development projects frominception through to implementation. This involves overseeing the entireproject lifecycle, including planning, elaboration, development, testing,and deployment.
• Testing and Reviews: Ensure that employees complete unit testing fortheir code and participate in peer/code reviews of other developers' workto maintain high-quality standards.
• User Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting and user support,working directly with end users at all levels of the organization toresolve issues and improve user experience.
• Performance Metrics: Establish baseline key performance indicators(KPIs) and gather relevant operating metrics to evaluate the impact of newtechnology adoption before and after implementation.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process changes thatenhance technology adoption. This includes adding, changing, or removingprocesses as necessary.
• Training: Conduct training sessions and ensure that relevanttraining is provided to help employees adopt new technologies effectively.
• Software Development Lifecycle: Lead the software developmentlifecycle process for projects aimed at stabilizing, enhancing, andexpanding the capabilities team.
• Requirement Gathering: Gather requirements from the product ownerand other business stakeholders. This includes authoring stories withstrong acceptance criteria, prioritizing stories, accepting or rejectingstories, coordinating with other technical teams, and removing teamroadblocks.
• Staff Management: Manage all staff members involved in the softwaredevelopment process, including developers, business analysts, qualityassurance, and support personnel.
• Application Support: Manage ongoing application support by ensuringthat support tickets are assigned to team members appropriately andcompleted in a manner that meets or exceeds predefined service levelagreements (SLAs).
• Agile Principles: Evangelize and implement Agile developmentprinciples across the entire department and other HCA Healthcarestakeholders to improve development processes and outcomes.
• Technology Evaluation: In cooperation with HCA Healthcarearchitects, evaluate all proposed innovative technologies for departmentaluse and organizational fit.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with corporate and divisional leadership,client executives, clients, and project managers to schedule, staff, anddeliver application enhancements.

Overall, 10–15 years of experience.

• 5-7 years of experience in Managing product development lifecycles, usertesting, interaction design, and Agile development.
• 3+ years of team management experience.

• Staff meetings, resource allocation management, performance reviews, timemanagement, PTO, employee development planning, and mentoring

Technical Skills

• Hands-onexperience building cloud native .NET applications (GCP is preferred)
• Strongknowledge in leading front-end, back-end, database developers
• Familiarity with Lean / Agile techniques in development environment
• Knowledge of version control tools like GitHub, Azure Repos
• Knowledfe of Project & Service management toold like Jira, Azure DevOpsand MS Projects
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to makedata-driven decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability tocollaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus.
