Job summary

TransUnion Mumbai is seeking a qualified Lawyer to manage end-to-end litigation for the company. The role requires in-depth knowledge of banking sector litigation, drafting and risk mitigation, and collaboration with the General Counsel and internal teams.

You will handle notices and court filings, coordinate with external counsel, ensure RBI compliance, and maintain litigation records. Domestic travel across India may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate in law from a reputed Institute.
• 5-7 years post qualification experience with a reputed medium/large company, bank or law firm in litigation matters.
• Ability to analyse legal risks and identify mitigants.
• Superior drafting skills.
• Must be from Banking sector.

Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end litigation matters for the Company in various forums.
• Work with the GC to develop litigation strategies minimizing risk.
• Analyze legal notices and responses.
• Attend to and draft responses to complaints/suits and coordinate with lawyers.
• Track lawyer engagements and fees; manage empanelled lawyers.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Draft legal correspondence and respond to government bodies, vendors, customers and employees.
• Ensure compliance with RBI directions, CICR Act and other laws.
• Update litigation matters in the system for proper representation.
• Travel to attend court matters across India as needed.
• Take on other responsibilities assigned by supervisor/HOD.

Dynamics of the Role

This is an exciting time in TransUnion CIBIL. With investments in our people, technology and new business markets, we are redefining the role and purpose of a credit bureau. This job is assigned as On-Site Essential and requires in- person work at an assigned TU office location as a condition of employment.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

• To handle end-to-end Litigation matters for the Company with respect to Suits filed by and/ or against the Company in various forums.
• To work along with the GC to develop litigation strategies for the Company such that risks that the Company is exposed to are minimized.
• Analysis of legal notices and ensuring timely and appropriate responses thereto.
• Attend to and draft suitable responses to various complaints / suits filed in various forums/courts Follow up with lawyers regarding court cases to ensure timely filing of reply therein and expeditious closure;
• Keep track of lawyer engagements; settlement of their fee bills etc.
• Build a strong working relationship with empanelled lawyers;
• Build a strong working relationship with internal stakeholders
• Drafting legal correspondence, collating information and responding to legal issues related to government bodies, vendors, customers and employees
• Ensuring compliance by TU CIBIL with the directions of the RBI, the CICR Act and all other legislations/guidelines/statutory directions governing it;
• Continuously scanning TU CIBIL environment for any unforeseen / unintended lapses and informing to immediate senior
• Ensure that all litigation matters are duly updated in the Litigation Systems such that adequate and appropriate representation is provided for each suit.
• Travel to attend Court matters before various jurisdictions across India, whenever necessary
• Any other responsibilities assigned by the immediate senior and/or HOD
