Job summary

Vodafone Idea Limited is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to manage cell site operations, including BTS, MW, BSC, and RNC at dedicated sites. The role focuses on maintaining high network availability and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.

You will work with vendor teams to install, commission, and test base station equipment. Requirements include 2–5 years of telecom field experience and a B.Tech/B.E in ECE/EEE/CSE.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of field experience in GSM/telecom networks.
• B.Tech/B.E in ECE/EEE/CSE required.
• Experience with NSN or Huawei radio/microwave systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage field level operations for BTS/MW/BSC/RNC equipment.
• Maintain high network availability (target 99.95%).
• Coordinate with infra partners for site maintenance and upgrades.
• Perform preventive maintenance and outage handling.

Job Purpose

Managing cell site – BTS/MW/BSC/RNC site field level operational activities

Key Result Areas/Accountabilities

• To work on maintaining the 99.95% Network Availability


• To carry out cell site/BSC/RNC site field level operational activities in strict compliance with the VIL operations process and manging the tools prescribed.


• To check and maintain the site level Opex and make control on same as per the budget


• Maintaining transmission media details to rectify any call drop/disturbance


• On time Preventive Maintenance and Outage handling process


• Coordination with infra partners on maintaining the upkeep of the infra equipment so as to ensure the upkeep of active equipment


• Integration & Commissioning of BTS & M/W sites including external alarms.


• Coordination with Vendor & Team for site installation & various activities of operations


• Responsible for supervising and acceptance test configuration and commissioning of new base station sites.


• Handling all types of GSM works that need immediate actions while the process builds up.


• VSWR alarm clearance by checking RSSI & VSWR values using VSWR meter.


• Coordinate with technical support personnel, support vendors and equipment suppliers

Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience

• Well versed knowledge in GSM/EDGE, along with testing experience


• Installation, commissioning, integration and troubleshooting of NSN/Huawei Radio and Microwave equipment


• Expertise in 2G and 3G Node-B Operation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting


• Expertise in GSM protocol stack, call flow and O&M of RNC, BSC, BTS and MW

Must have technical / professional qualifications

Experience: 2 – 5 Years.

Qualification: BTech/B.E - ECE/EEE/CSE
