Job summary

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continually improve IMS across manufacturing operations.
• Ensure ISO 9001/14001/45001 compliance; plan internal audits and manage external certification.
• Oversee environmental and safety systems incl. STP, rainwater harvesting, fire safety & waste management.
• Ensure statutory compliance (Factories Act, OSHWC Code, Pollution control) and tracking licenses.
• Develop safety protocols for cranes, hoists, lifting tools, and material handling equipment.
• Conduct JSA, risk assessments, and Permit-to-Work processes.
• Maintain fire safety systems and emergency response plans; coordinate drills with agencies.
• Support ESG, sustainability reporting, and data collection for BRSR.
• Monitor carbon footprint (Scopes 1-3) and promote energy efficiency initiatives.
• Lead training programs and drive a strong safety culture among employees.

Role & responsibilities

1. Integrated Management System (IMS)

• Develop, implement, maintain, and continually improve the Integrated Management System (IMS).
• Ensure compliance with:
• ISO 9001: Quality Management System
• ISO 14001: Environmental Management System
• ISO 45001: Occupational Health & Safety Management System
• Plan and conduct internal audits, management reviews, and coordinate external certification audits.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and continuous improvement initiatives.

2. Manufacturing Utilities & Environmental Systems

Manage and monitor environmental and safety-related infrastructure, including:

• Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)
• Rainwater Harvesting System
• Fire Hydrant System
• Fire Detection & Alarm System
• Wastewater management and pollution control systems
• Utility environmental compliance

3. Sustainability & Environmental Compliance

• Ensure implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements.
• Drive Circular Economy initiatives including waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and resource optimization.
• Monitor hazardous and non-hazardous waste management in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Ensure legal compliance related to environmental protection and pollution control.

4. Factory Statutory Compliance

Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory requirements, including:

• Factories Act and State Factory Rules
• Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSHWC) Code (where applicable)
• Pollution Control Board requirements
• Fire Safety Regulations
• Legal inspections and regulatory reporting
• Maintenance of statutory registers, records, and licenses

5. Equipment & Operational Safety

• Develop and implement safety protocols for:
• Cranes
• Hoists
• Lifting tools and tackles
• Material handling equipment
• Monitor periodic inspections, load testing coordination, and certification compliance.
• Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments and Permit-to-Work implementation.

6. Fire & Emergency Management

• Maintain Fire Hydrant and Fire Alarm Systems.
• Develop and implement emergency preparedness and response plans.
• Conduct mock drills and evacuation exercises.
• Coordinate with external emergency agencies and statutory authorities.

7. ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance)

• Support implementation of ESG initiatives across the manufacturing plant.
• Develop sustainability KPIs and monitor ESG performance.
• Promote responsible resource utilization, employee welfare, and governance practices.
• Support ESG disclosures and improvement projects.

8. BRSR (Business Responsibility & Sustainability Reporting)

• Possess working knowledge of BRSR principles and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate data collection for sustainability reporting.
• Support preparation of ESG and BRSR-related reports.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure reporting accuracy.

9. Carbon Management & Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

• Understand and calculate:
• Scope 1 Greenhouse Gas Emissions
• Scope 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions
• Scope 3 Greenhouse Gas Emissions
• Monitor plant carbon footprint.
• Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and emission reduction.
• Support carbon neutrality and decarbonization initiatives.
• Basic understanding of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for products and manufacturing processes.

10. Occupational Health & Safety

• Conduct HIRA, safety audits, and behavioural safety programs.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with PPE requirements.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety induction, and employee awareness programs.

11. Training & Employee Engagement

• Conduct EHS training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
• Organize safety campaigns, awareness programs, and statutory training.

12. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain EHS records, permits, SOPs, risk registers, audit reports, and compliance documentation.
• Prepare monthly EHS dashboards, KPIs, MIS reports, and management presentations.
• Coordinate with government authorities during inspections and audits.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or Environmental) or equivalent.
• Diploma/Degree in Industrial Safety or equivalent qualification recognized by the competent authority.
• Certification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor is preferred.
• Additional certifications in ESG, Sustainability, NEBOSH, or IOSH will be an added advantage.

Key Competencies

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing EHS systems and statutory compliance.
• Expertise in IMS (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• Knowledge of STP, ETP, rainwater harvesting, fire protection systems, EPR, circular economy, and waste management.
• Understanding of ESG, BRSR, carbon footprint (Scope 1, Scope 2, Scope 3), and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
• Risk assessment, incident investigation, emergency response, and contractor safety management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
